Anyone had MMR as adult?

I am having an MMR and chicken pox vaccine next weekend and just wondered if anyone had had this, and if so, how they felt afterwards?

DH and I were thinking of going away for the weekend strsight from Dr, but will I feel rubbish, or not even notice it (like flu jab)?

Thank you!

I that the MMR after I had DS1 as I was not immune to rubella and they said it was better to get the vaccine before I considered having the another one. It was absolutely fine and other than a slightly sore arm I didnot feel unwell at all. Have not had the chickenpox vaccine so can't comment on that.

I had to have both to get my Green Card here in The States, very sore arm, but no other side effects.

That's great to know, thank you both very much.

We're going to start trying for number 1 this year and I have discovered that despite having both chicken pox and mumps when I was a child, I have no immunity to either.

I had MMR at 37 or 38 as I had no immunity to rubella. I felt really shit with it. I had each of the side effects, oh joy, and felt pants on and off for three weeks as I worked my way through them. I think I was unlucky but don't be surprised if it happens to you. Just remember you're not actually unwell and don't need to worry. I don't think I was unwell immediately after, though. Make hay while the sun shines .

I had it about 3 weeks ago, as I've never had measles or mumps despite being made to play wiht kids with them, and there's lots of measles locally - A is too young for MMR and friend's baby recently was very ill with measles at 11 months.

I was warned that I might get a sore arm but adults generally don't feel poorly after unlike some 1-year-olds. Had no problem at all (slightly sore where needle went in, that;s all)

I had chicken pox aged 16 and it was horrible, so if A doesn't have it by age 10 or so I'll get it for him. Although same friend's baby just had CP and friend now thinks babies should have the jab, after a week of being up all night with child going "mummy it hurts, make it stop"... not sure yet myself.

I had the mmr when it first came in (late 80s?) as I have had a splenectomy and have a few extra jabs. I was about 19 or 20 and felt a bit rough later that evening, but fine otherwise, certainly perfectly ok the next day.

Thanks everyone, that's really helpful. Fingers crossed I will be ok. I've never had a reaction to vaccinations before, but it would be typical that I would this time!

My Dh hasn't had measles, mumps or german measles (vaccination or illness) - there's no risk to him through me having this jab is there? (virus shedding?)

It would be rather annoying if I have these vaccinations to hope for a healthy pregnancy and then he goes and gets mumps from me and becomes infertile....

I have no idea about that Ozziegirly - I would def ask your dr first, just in case, as the mmr is a live vaccine. The viruses are modified somehow to stop them creating the full disease, so I would imagine it's fine, but still worth checking.
