8 month old strange behaviour

Before I bother my gp about this thought I'd see if I'm worrying over nothing - hopefully.

DD2 is 8 months. For a while now she's been doing this head rocking/banging/swaying. At first we all laughed at her thinking it was a quirk but it has really increased and last night I lay awake worrying about neurological disorders.

It's never when she's trying to get to sleep which I have read on the net, but just for no reason - when we're holding her or I'm trying to feed her in her chair.

She's completely normal in every other way - alert, responsive, affectionate, reaching all her milestones.

Thankx

My son did it when he was a baby and now at 5.5 is totally fine. It is normal behaviour, some babies do it to settle themselves to sleep. This might help otherwise google it and there should be more info on the net. Babies really are strange little creatures.

Not sure if it's the same thing but when my DD was a bit older than yours she would shake her head side to side frantically while squealing continuously. A relative of mine who is a specialist in auditory function explained that some children do this kind of thing as a way of learning to coordinate a range of sensory inputs. If i sound like i'm waffling it's because, to be honest, i can't remember exactly what he said, but i know that he considered a good and useful thing. Maybe that's what's going on with your DD??
