How do I work out what a 3% increase is please?

divide your sum by 100 & then times by 103

or multiply by 1.03

1.03 x number (and if you just want the increase take the original number away from that answer).

eg 1.03 *10 = 10.3
10.3-10 =0.3 so an increase of 0.3

(or you can just do 0.03 x original)

Okay, another one.

If we increase our fees from £2.00 per hour to £2.50 per hour, what percentage increase is this?

I know, I know, it's very simple! I am stupid.

That is a 25% increase because 50p is 25% of £2.

2.50/2.00=1.25

.25 is 25 % - so 25% increase (the 1 is the original 2.00 you started with).

Thank you, it's so obvious isn't it. I just start to panic with numbers and my mind goes blank. I am the pre-school treasurer . It's okay though, we have an accountant who checks everything!
