Got a rather huge blister on the side of my heel from walking lots in new trainers. It bloody hurts!! Are you supposed to leave them alone?

Leave them, don't pop them.

They make lovely blister plasters these days, they're wet and weird, but they work wonders. No use at this hour, but Boots etc have them.

OOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhh

I always pop and then slather in Sudo

Chocol8 · 12/04/2005 22:29

Do NOT pop it - you will regret it big time! I remember the pain so well...!

paolosgirl · 12/04/2005 22:30

Leave them! The fluid inside them is sterile and stops infection. That said, the odd wee squeeze is just too tempting!

jasper · 12/04/2005 22:41

swiperfox Compede plasters are the business.

They stick over the blister for three or four days no matter where your foot goes until the blister heals. They are thick so stop the blister hurting/rubbing as it heals

joash · 12/04/2005 22:45

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, pop blisters

beansontoast · 12/04/2005 22:48

DS1 has just come back from a 3-day Duke of Edinburgh hike - he had some blisters before he went (from strenuous 5-a-side) and I did tell him then not to pop them, but he got loads more on the walk from wearing DH's boots which are a size too small (didn't think that through, lol!) Anyway one of the leaders, who is a mountain rescue person, told him to pop them, so he did. Maybe it's different if your boots are too small - popping them makes a bit of extra space for your toes. They are bloody sore now though.

hunkersneakymunker · 12/04/2005 23:06

Plasters no good for me - I'm allergic to them and they make my skin blister...so blister plasters would be bloody useless!

CountessDracula · 12/04/2005 23:09

compeed plasters amazing

LGJ · 12/04/2005 23:14

Right

I am popping off to bed.

Don't pop your blisters!!!

Believe me, I know. I am the queen of clisters - every pair of shoes give me them, somewhere on my feet and I can rarely go out far without getting them

My worst was after a day trip in Manchester. Got huge blister on my heel which I popped as it was so painful and large. Bad move. The next 3 days were so painful. And then it got worse. I couldn''t understand why my heel hurt so much - and I mean hurt. I couldn't stand for longer than 2 or 3 minutes, and when I had to drive home on the motorway I cried the whole time, the pain was so bad and making me physically sick. When I got home DH drove me directly to A&E - my whole leg, to way above my knee was infected from the blister!!! I ended up with my leg strapped up, on strong antibiotics (including one jabbed directly into the area - ouch!_ and 2 weeks off work, with my leg stuck int he air.

DON'T POP BLISTERS!!!

Chocol8 · 13/04/2005 21:56

Heed the knowledgeable words of the Queen of Blisters, Hulababy! Blimey Hula, you poor luv! That was a bit of an extreme blister!!!

I had a massive one on my leg from (apparently) my hot water bottle which was about 5" in diameter and about 2.5" high and full up to the hilt. I was told NOT to pop it at the hospital and it was bandaged up daily. I'd been invited to a newspaper party where all these celebs and models were and me with a chair in the ladies oozing the contents of my blister into the sink for half an hour - nice!

LGJ and Beansontoast - lol!

Leogaela · 14/04/2005 08:49

POP THEM! Cut the dead skin of and put a blister plaster on them - Compede are good. But only pop them when you have blister plaster if not they will be rubbed raw (and could get infected!). I don't claim the blister queen throne, but I've had loads of blisters from different sports shoes - blister plasters are the only way to carry on!

HSM - blister plasters arent normal plasters they are rubbery stuff so may not have the thing you are allergic to in them (allergens????)

swiperfox · 14/04/2005 09:33

The one on my heel popped.

OH MY GOD.....OOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However i went out walking this morning and it seems to have reformed!!

Bloody hurts though!!
