lumpy boob (breastfeeding) ??

any ideas why below the areole is quite lumpy for me in one boob only, and at 8mths feeding, this has only happened in the last few days, there is a bit of tenderness there, actually its sore to touch. i cna see the lumps are they veins or the milk ducts ( are they that close to the surface?).ds was quite funny whilst feeding tonight , he came off and started sucking and clicking his tongue if u get my meaning,

happymum the feeds are sort of dropping, one day he'll take 2 boobs at noon and then he doesnt, could that be it?

it does feel lumpy and engorged but nothing like those early days of breastfeeding. and i dont feel unwell otherwise,dont u get fluey wuth M

It could be a blocked duct, which you often get before mastitis?

If that's what it is, massaging the lumps, while BF, and/or trying to BF in a different position (in case that part of the breast is being compressed while feeding?)

You could also try expressing on that side.

Could it be blocked ducts? try showering hot then cold water on the boob repeatedly and then feed/express/or hand express I did this after advice from the NCT breastfeeding counsellors 0870 4448708 (hope this is still up to date) and a long spaghetti type thing came out where it had been blocking up (it caused me to get mastitis). It doesn't cause any problems to the baby and is Ok for them to carry on feeding as normal. HTH
