Anyone know anything about viral skin rashes?

Hello
Wonder if anyone can help?
Bit of a long story I'm afraid.
I developed a headache in my left temple/above left ear area almost 8 weeks ago. It's most apparent when on the move or standing up, but generally not there when I sit or lie down. About ten days after it started, I went down with a flu like virus with classic symptoms but also developed an itchy viral rash (GP saw it) which started as small red spots and then grew into large hives. This lasted a few days and then went away. I recovered from the flu but the rash has since returned twice in the past month or so.

My GP has run blood tests and found that I have a raised ESR (a marker of inflammation apparently which can be caused by a viral infection) and she has referred me to see a neurologist re the headache. I have an appt in a few weeks.

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of a viral rash with or without headaches.

I've also been having aching in my left arm and leg which the GP has not linked to anything else. I have had a neurological exam by the GP and all seemed ok.

Appreciate any thoughts on this!

Thanks
MLM

Yes, when I had glandular fever, I would scratch and little red dots would appear and then fade, but would come back if I scartched. This went on for ages.

*scratched.
Apparently it's called petechiae.

Thanks Tiredsville.

I've googled petechiae and it could be the same sort of thing. I've made another GP appt as I'm getting a bit bothered by the rash now, so perhaps they can identify it.

I've seen my gp and she didn't offer much idea of what it could be!

When you press a glass against the litle red dots to they disappear?

hi there

yes, they do fade under pressure, so I don't think they are the same as the ones you had.

my doc suggested it could be something called erythema multiforme, a rash which is an allergic reaction to medication or an infection, although the pics of it don't look that much like my rash!

Oh well...!
