Hiya

I am used to the normal odours, pre dc. iyswim! Has been almost 7 yrs since dc birth, and i am just fed up of having knickers that seems to almost rot from what i assume must now be a wee problem.

I am obv 7 yrs older than when dc was born, so does thismean i have a problem holding onto my wee, becuase i am ageing?

This has slowly crept up on me iyswim, i havent been living with wee problems forever and got to the end of my tether. I have just noticed that the last year or so, my pants have to be discarded more frequently, as gussets get more than their usual leaks.

I have sometimes worn liners, but tbh not always. I had a difficult birth, spd too, so pretty lax muscles. 2nd degree tear, and lots of stitches outside. vag stretched ALOt.

Do you smell of wee, am i normal bordering go to the gp, or just normal?

get some panty liners and step up the pelvic floors

amoanaboutamonia · 15/02/2009 11:38

hi, tbh my pelvic floor isn't too bad, but i think i should do more. it just makes me want to pee tho!!

i had a slight prolapse, front and back, but tbh, the not very nice doctor back then said, 'what do you want, we don't do designer vaginas'

which was a tad upsetting i must say.

Carefree panty liners in cotton fresh are good .

I would go and mention it to the doctor aswell .

EldonAve · 15/02/2009 11:40

go to the doc
get a referral to a womens health physio

snice · 15/02/2009 11:40

I would go to the GP for advice - its not unusual but its not normal either. You shouldn't have to live eith it and it may get worse unless you take some action. Start doing your pelic floors though

amoanaboutamonia · 15/02/2009 11:42

ok, maybe i should go to the doc. i am normally upfront about these things, never embarrassed, but i just didn't think i needed too till recently.
Hence me posting.

Is there a normal i wonder.

ah snice, thats what i need to hear, the sort of differences between what is normal and not so normal. Although i am not sure what i am measuring.

I know they have clinics at the hosp, don't they measure loss of urine somehow?

"Leaking" is not mormal and if you do nothing it might get worse. You can self-refer to a continence clinic/nurse- look in your phone directory or ask at your drs.

Can you feel the leaking? Is it stress incontinence- does it happen when you run, laugh or cough? Or is it over active bladder, where you dribble and can't make it to the loo?

Don't use ormal pant liners- get something for the problem, like Tena Lady liners- they will help you not smell.

Pelvic floor xz are one route to go down, but you need to see aphysio and maybe a gyane to assess the problem and see what will help you- don't suffer in silence!

asteamedpoater · 15/02/2009 17:58

If you have a prolapse, then however many pelvic floor exercises you do, you won't cure the prolapse, you'll just stop it getting worse (which is obviously an extremely good idea). If the prolapse is bad enough, it may cause stress incontinence regardless of how hard you are working on your pelvic floor muscles. So, to have it looked at properly, now, would not be asking for a "designer vagina", it would be asking for help with your (albeit mild) incontinence. It may actually still be mild enough that proper pelvic floor exercises, with the help of a trained nurse/physio, would cure it without any need for surgery on the prolapse - sometimes you just aren't exercising the right muscles without even realising it, or just not doing the exercises enough. Also, it may be worth drinking more fluids, as your wee is more likely to actually smell if you are dehydrated. Obviously, drinking more may result in bigger damp patches, requiring a pany liner, but at least they won't smell!

I would ask your GP for help, albeit that mild stress incontinence is pretty common in women after childbirth, as you may be able to cure it altogether, reducing the risk of it getting worse and worse as you get older.

Not that I practice what I preach!
