Is it OK to self diagnose thrush?

I am taking dd to the doctor later and while I'm there I'm going to ask for me treatment as I'm sure I have thrush. I tend to get it when I am run down which I definately am atm. I would go and buy it but we are on such a tight budget this month that I just can't afford it Is it OK to say that I have thrush or will they need to examine me? I'm really not comfortable with internals since having a bad birth with dd

I often get it, and have managed to get a perscription without examination/test. I think if you are a frequent sufferer some gps at least will jsut prescribe.

I self-prescribed myself last year (bought treatment ott) and when it came back I knew it was because dh hadn't treated himself properly. So I rang the surgery and was able to get a prescription over the phone simply talking to a nurse.

So if you are sure you know it is thrush and can convince the doctor that you know this, I doubt they will want to examine you. That said, if they have you there anyway, maybe they would....

if its obvious to you, most nurses IME wouldn't examine you, only if you were unsure.Even if they did, the signs of Thrush are usually easy to spot,so wouldn't involve using an instrument or taking a swab,so nothing painful.
