Cetraben questions please? Dry skin cream

Doc has prescribed this for ds6 as his fingers are cracked and sore.

She told me that I use it to wash his hands with, dry them, and then apply it again as a cream.

She says it does both jobs. But the label doesn't read as this! Can anyone tell me! thanks

we have cetraben and haven't used it for hand washing - we were given oilatum for the bath and use ordinary hand soap for hand washing. I can understand the theory though, in the same way that people use aqueous cream for washing. However, it wouldn't work with really grubby hands I guess either.

Yes, like all emollients you can use it to wash with as well as to moisturise after washing.

Yes you can use it like this, it says on my instructions printed at the pharmacy.

Cetraban is quite a 'heavy' cream so is ideal for bad dryness. Have you tried using cotton gloves at night ?? it enables you to put quite a bit of cream on

ds had a paddy this morning and won't let me put any on! I've tried it on my dry hands and it really makes a difference.
His are all splits on every finger. Looks terrible. (He is 6)

I can say when it cracks on the hands it is actually very painfull as well. Is there anyway you can do the cotton gloves at night on him, maybe when he's asleep (long time since Ive had a 6 year old so not sure if this would be possible)

Washing with it is fine, it will really help him. Poor little chap, must
Can you make it into some kind of game that you put it on each others hands or something? Do any footballers he likes (or other sports people/celebs) advertise any male grooming products that you could show him so that he knows it's ok to look after your skin?
