Sciatica?

I've got the following symptoms:-

Niggling pain around lhs pubic area, which is more of a numb tickle than a pain.

Sharp pain in my back on the same side

Cramping/numbness down same side leg and deep in my lower back.

Nurse said it's sciatica - does it sound like it?

Sounds like sciatica, I have suffered for years with this, had two ops on my lower back, now part of my left foot and leg is weak/numb.

sounds like it to me too, try acupuncture - really helped me.

go to your GP and if it is sciatica you should be referred to physio which will really help. DH has had it on and off - he's fine now, in fact he's off snowboarding in France while I paint the hallway

Can sciatica cause numb/fuzzy cramping around my pelvic area on the same side too?

It sounds to me like it could be sciatica, but that you also have some sacro-illiac pain or weakness too (in your back).

I'd see a physio or osteopath (personally prefer the latter from experience with this sort of thing), and have your alignment checked. Best to get a good look at what you're dealing with.

I threw money at seeing a physio who didn't cure me, before finally seeing an osteopath who felt that that my sacrum (in lower back) was twisted, hence my pains, which were similar to yours. He thought it happened during birth.

Good luck anyway.

i get sharp stabbing pains in my bum near the top in one side, i used to just get it when i was pregnant but now i have it even though im not. mine seems to be worse when im sat on the sofa! and going to the gym seems to help. i have quite weak core muscles so im wondering if strengthening them will help my sciatica and slightly bad back.
osteopath sounds like a good idea, might try that

Sitting is the worse thing you can do for your back, building up your core muscles will help a great deal. Personally I wouldn't go to a physio, (they made my back problem worse) try pilates because that is all about your core muscles.
