Signs for dyslexia ????

My DS is 3.5 and seems quite bright - has always loved numbers / letters / words etc - he has recently started complaining that he doesn't want to go to nursery because it is 'too noisy' - by which I think he means there are too many things / noises all going on at the same time.
I thought this was a strange thing to say - but my husband said he said the same thing when he went to nursery. My husband is dyslexic (so probability wise is is reasonably likely my DS may also be) and I wondered if this could be construed as an early indicator ? Or are there any early indicators ? Or is it to early to determine ?

I think it would be way too early to tell but may indicate some sort of heightened sensory awareness, which he may yet outgrow. ds is dypsraxic and has sensory issues alongside mainly relating to noise and movement. dd hated certain noises as a toddler (chainsaw, a banged piano, drill) but is fine. Your hv can probably do a preliminary assessment to gauge the extent and keep an eye on it.

Thanks - that's really helpful. Looking at that list I think probably not.

Check out the BDA ( British Dyslexia Association) website for early indicators, or look online- there are educationalists/teachers/ed psychologists etc who offer advice and screening.

3.5 is a bit young to diagnose, but it is possible he may have associated problems- ADHD, or dyspraxia or mild Aspergers. Don't worry yet- just be aware.
