Can swollen lymph glands in neck be as a result of badly bruised head?

DD has had massively swollen lymph glands in her neck for a week now. Last week it was associated with a raging temperature and she was very weak. She still has a swollen neck, seems to tire easily and is still off school. The doctor doesn't know what it is - suspects a 'virus' - but has given her anti-bios just in case.

I've just thought up my bruise theory as she bruised her forehead really badly falling over 2 days before the glands came up.

Any suggestions welcome...

I know I get swollen glands when I have a sore throat...still, If they were massively swollen then I would definitely want a second opinion....especially as the doctor doesn't seem to know what it is he is actually treating her for.
I do think a blood test should have been done. Problems with thyroid glands can show themselves with a blood test, although I am not sure if a child can have thyroid problems.

Since it started she has seen 2 doctors who both said the same thing. She is getting better slowly, but the glands are still very big...

same thing happened to my ds, he got some sort of virus and his gland, especially the left sided one came up like golfballs, they did go down after a few years but never went away, when he gets ill now they do come up again

'A few years' - wow! I'm just wondering how long the tiredness is going to last. She's gone back to school today though I am going in with her anti-biotics at lunchtime and will take her home then if she needs to go.
