ok so I wake at least once every night to pee and I am soooo tired all the time

this ahs been going on since dd was born, she is now 3.5 years and I cant put up with it any longer

I am assuming its pelvic floor

I had a episiotomy and forceps if that makes a difference

Is there anything that can help?

Do you do your pelvic floor exercises three times a day every day? If not, start now. If you don't know how to do them properly, go to see a physio.

Restricting water in the evening won't help.

gingernutlover · 22/01/2009 09:33

okay thanks

and no i dont do the exercises, i know its the usual excuse but i am either too busy or too exhausted to do them

wouldnt know how to do them anyway

okay i been reading up on it and all the explanantions seem to talk about incoinence and leaking. I dont have any of that normally, only the waking at night wanting to go

so will these exercises help that too?

... I'm doing my PF's now smug

just do 'em, everytime I change TV chanel, make a cup of T, euh.... when I go to bed, when I work out - about 5 sets of 20 clenches a day (prob all wrong) but it's sorted out similar problem for me

Good Luck
If its really persistant see your GP who may offer some more constructive treatment -x-

gingernutlover · 22/01/2009 15:48

okay so sorry but how do i know i am doing them right and how long should each one be

i guess if it really does work its worth doing. How long before i see effects (ie get to sleep the whole night)?

It may seem counter inituitive, but if you're not going much during the day, it might be worth trying to drink more.

gingernutlover · 22/01/2009 17:07

might be wporth a try

i did do the cambridge diet since dd was born where you have to drink at least 4 litres of water a day and it was not any worse (the getting up at night)

All women should do daily pelvic floor exercises, even if they haven't given birth, and even if they don't have any continence problems. This is because women are very prone to continence problems the older we get.

Fortunately the pelvic floor muscles is a very easy muscle to train. Do them when you are using the internet, doing the washing up, watching TV, sat at traffic lights.

These are two very simple exercises my physio taught me:

You need to start by contracting the pelvic floor muscle for one second, and then relax it. Do this ten times.

Then contract the muscle and hold for five seconds. Do this five times.

Pelvic floor exercises can get more complex and more difficult, training the whole muscle (which is rather big).

Drink plenty of water during the day.

okaaaaaaaaaaaaay

have done 1 set, heres to doing lots more i guess

most of the info i could find said it can take anything from 3 weeks to 3 months to work
