I am worried I will sound like a hypochondriac! Here are my problems -

  • I get ill alot, sore throats, bugs etc.
  • I have headaches almost daily
  • I find it hard to get to sleep and never feel rested after sleep
  • sometimes I sleep too much, others not enough
  • I take vitamins daily and eat fairly healthily
  • I have had depression for years and am still on a low dose but it is controlled and I dont feel depressed.
  • I get a lot of back pain
  • also ocasional leg pain - knees and ankles especialy
  • I find it hard to cope with everything, I am often too tired in the evening to do housework, and just have to sit/go to bed.
  • Often turn down invited from friends due to being so tired/feeling unwell.

I am too scared to go to my Dr I worry she will think I am making this up because of depression. Right now I have a sore throat and head and feel very lethargic, been in bed most of the day. Once I have finished typing this will need to lye down.

Anyone else feel like this? Anything I can try? I do have about one day every 2 weeks of feeling normal and I love it, I get much more done and feel great, but I don't know why I cant feel like that more. Please help

I would get myself to the doctor and get my thyroid checked if I were you, amongst other things. A full blood count too to check for anaemia. Please don't be worried about going to see your doctor, that's what they are there for

Have you looked at your diet!! I used to be like this ALL the time before I did a food elimination diet for my children! Suddenly realised that I was dairy intolerant and couldn't handle salicylates or histamines which are naturally occuring chemicals in fruit and vegetables. Not unhealthy foods, although some of those don't help either!! The healthier I ate the worse I felt!!

My DH did it at the same time and has a huge history of depression, social anxiety and generally being a grumpy sod we were shocked at how histamines in certain meats, cheese, dried fruits etc were the cause. By simply avoiding these foods, all these problems are COMPLETELY a thing of the past.

I don't know if this will help you, but the experience changed our family forever.
Good luck and hope you find something that works for you soon, so you can feel better!

I felt like that with my old gp, i moved surgerys. I booked a double apt and went i and pured it all out and explained that i felt ridiculous and like a hypocondriact but it really was having a huge impact on the quality of my life.

He went through my whole medical history and we had a chat and he came up with a few things he could test for and when they came back ckear he came up with Fibromyalga.

hi, I know what you mean about worrying the doctors will just dismiss you and say you're depressed. I had to battle this when I went to the doctors with symptoms of aches and pains and fatigue, and had to go and see several doctors before I found one willing to accept that I wasn't depressed and to actually listen to me! Its worth persevering until you find a doctor you get on with. Also, I found it really helped to give him some specific examples of why I knew I wasn't depressed. Its finally turned out I have a very specific auto-immune syndrome (after a lot of tests). It is definitely worth going, and perservering until you find a doctor you get on with.

ask for an ESR with your fbc which screens generally for inflammation/infection.
