I had the op done last Monday, and am currenty laid up in bed. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this done and if so, what their recovery was like. It's not pleasent so far!

I haven't, but didn't want your post to go unanswered. Sorry to hear you aren't feeling great. I did have a transobturator tape to bladder neck done on Tuesday (I know this is much more minor surgery than what you have had done), and even that is taking a bit longer to recover from than I had expected.

I hope you will soon be feeling better

Palmwoods · 16/01/2009 14:36

Poor you SoMuchToBits, why do we do these things to ourselves! Luckily I have two great kids to show for my pain and suffering! Hope you recover soon, and in the meantime, enjoy the rubbish daytime tv like me.

Oh no, I'm not that bad really (I'm sure you must be feeling a lot more grim!). And I have a lovely 8 year old ds, and can waste spend my time on Mumsnet instead of doing chores!

i had the same op with tension bladder tape and perineam repair last month..now nearly at 6 weeks. its pretty rough for the first few weeks but u will feel yourself getting stronger from 3-4 weeks. take as much r and r as u can and only do what u can manage fairly easily. just think that u get a designer vagina and the end of it all! good luck

SoMuchToBitsOfHaggis · 25/01/2009 22:47

Hi trish, i've only had the bladder tape, and am now a week and a half post-op. Mostly feel fine, but get tired very easily if I over-do things (e.g. yesterday cooked dinner for 8 people, and today was mega-tired).

results seem to be encouraging so far though.

I had it 17 yrs back!

5 days in hospital and a catheter for a week- couldn't pass water.

Needed a lot of help at home- DH was able to work from home then my Mum came for 2 weeks etc- you mustn't lift or overdo it for the 1st 6 weeks. I had 2 DCs aged 4 and 2 at the time.

How are you feeling now?

Mumwhensdinnerready · 27/01/2009 15:18

No but I need one and am just plucking up courage to go ahead.
Hope you are on the mend.x

I'm feeling soooo much better, turns out, the reason I was in agony for the two weeks after I left hospital was becuase I had an infection - nasty! Im still uncomfortable, but don't require painkillers. Mumwhensdinnerready, good luck, and try to get full time help for the first two weeks out of hospital. What an op, and what we have to do!!!

Hello everyone, first time on here

I am having an anterior and posterior repair, a perineropsomethingorother and an enterocele repair at end of month. As I am only 30, I dont know anyone who has had these things done.

I have little ones and my worry is going to be getting my 18 month old in and out of cot for day sleeps

Those of you who have had it, and recovered, do you think I will be able to go up the country f0r a wedding 10 days after? (hubby driving) or takes exams 3 weeks after? (2 hour exam)

Some websites seems to suggest you need months to feel normal again and others seem to suggest you will feel back to normal fairly soon?

Thanks x

howtotellmum · 04/04/2009 18:39

Hi there- I have name changed from an earlier post- haven't bothered to change back.

You may be okay for the wedding, but it is a bit ambitious, TBH!!

I had a catherter for a week and felt very tired. You shouldn't stand for a long time either- anything that puts weight on your pelvic floor.

You might feel quite tired as your body is repairing itself and it can take a week or more to get over a general anaesth.

Just see how you go- good luck.

maksmaks · 17/05/2009 18:31

OK, so call me stupid because what I have done is exactly that. I had a posterior repair 10 days ago - it went to plan and I was told to rest for 1-2 weeks, no exercise, no lifting etc for 6-8 weeks. But I went out on day 10, had too much happy juice (red wine ) and ended up on the dance floor. I had been feeling so miserable for such a long time and the rest in week 1 had been good. Now I feel like I'm swelling down there - anyone got any idea whether I could have done any damage please?

littlelucys · 18/08/2009 20:18

I had the full ant and post repair in Jan 08. I was knocked for six for at least 4 weeks and needed 8 weeks to fully recover. I also lost the ability to wee for some time which was not the best!

Not convinced I did the right thing!

maturemum50 · 03/09/2009 14:56

I had ante and post repair 5 weeks ago now. well what a stressful time always wondering if the op has worked. Found a bulge after 3 days and was convinced my prolapse had come back, but was told by my gyn dr it was just the suture line that was swollen. Well its still there and i hope it goes soon. When I stand for too long 5=10 mins i get a pain in my pelvis both sides so have to sit down. About a week ago after my pelvic floor exercies the pain was there and seems to be there most of the time only seems better when i have legs up on settee or bed . so have stopped exercises for time being. has anyone else had alot of pain in pelvis area. Im worried i have done something to the repair. If anyone else has experienced this how long did it last. and when did you notice you could stand for longer periods without pain. I have 7 weeks before i go back to work, which involves standing all the time. any comments appreciated

shamefulx · 03/09/2009 21:39

I wouldn`t have been able to feel a buldge 3 days after my repair because i was still laid up in hospital and too sore to even look never mind furkle about !
I had 3 months off work and found a really good old fashioned pair of support pants really helpful.
I had mine done aged 30 i think but then went on and had another baby and ruined it all

maturemum50 · 05/09/2009 16:36

do you think you will have the op done again. My pelvic pain is abit better now. But I was constipated a few days ago (tried not to strain) and now I can feel my bulge or swelling again . The sensation is like something up there all the time. It seems as soon as one pain goes something else crops up. I thought I would feel more normal down there by now. I also had this sensation for the first few weeks but then it passed. How long did it take you to feel normal down there. any comments appreciated

littlelucys · 10/02/2010 17:28
