Pain in the backside!

Well, its just at the top of my bum cheeks, right at the bottom of my back, one side only. Just a sharp pain, every so often. Sometimes bending down, sometimes doing nothing in particular. Last a second or two, then goes away. A sharp pain enough to make me catch my breath, but I'm a lightweight with pain.

Feels like a nerve-twinge thing rather than muscles or anything (not that I have many round there anyway ). But I think not sciatica as the pain doesn't move anywhere else.

Is it my advancing age (40 this year, as DH keeps reminding me)- its come on over the last month or two and is def getting worse

Any ideas?

Well, i was going to come in here, shout PILES at the top of my voice, then waddle off.. but dammit i have read the post..

So here goes..

SCIATICA!!! Without a doubt..Sorry..

dippica · 09/01/2009 15:02

Thanks for that!
I would have whimpered "oh OK" in a tiny voice, but I know its not that anyway.
Will now look sciatica up properly.

Yes hun because i am v v tall, i get exactly what you describe, and it comes and goes.. evil when it comes sometimes as well, try keeping area warm when it does strike and against all natural instincts, try to keep mobile to the best of your ability, as moving about gently seems to 'warm up' the area and starts things moving again..pretty much painlessly. It may be something else, maybe a muscle problem though, so fingers x'd and keep an open mind, visit doc's if it gets worse. Maybe a pinched or trapped nerve if you're lucky
Just didn't want to let post go unanswered so maybe i jumped the gun a bit saying sciatica 'without a doubt' sorry!

It could be sacro-iliac related.
