I have just been for a smear test with my GP and she was cancered that I had quite severe erosion.

The amount of blood on the speculem was, I have to say alarming (about a table spoon) and I have had a heavy blled for a few hours since - now slowing, but at least I now know why I bleed a lot between periods, after sex etc.

So I am now being referred to a gynacologist with a view to having laser or cortorizing (sp) to the area.

I'm not really concered about my condition, but I would like to know what to expect from the procedure. I know it is day surgery and a friend has told me I will put out for it, but in terms of discomfort and after effects, and needing time of work I would like to know more.

Can anyone share their experiences please

I had this done almost 30 yrs ago.
I had heard that now they can do it under a local anaesthetic with laser. I doubt if you would have a general anaes. nowadays.
I had a general- I was kept in for 1 night. I had no pain and slight bleeding for a few days. Was told not to use tampons.
