Chest infection / identification of bacteria question....

I have had a lingering chest infection for 2 months which recently got alot worse. Am 6 months pregnant and already been given 3 lots of AB's (amoxycillin early on, erythromycin, cefaclor). A sputum sample sent of last week revealed the HiB bacteria (Haemophilus influenzae) and lab suggested 2 antibiotics - one not ok in pregnancy and the other Amoxycillin (which i had very early on so possible i didnt actually have this bug then).

My question is - once they have grown the bug from the sample do they then test it to see what it is sensitive to? Everything i read on internet says there is around 20% resistance to amoxycillin for Hib. Would they have checked that it was sensitive? Just getting worried as now on day 3 of double dose of Amox. (500mgx3)and not much change. Really starting to panic as i have had so many ab's and i need to be well again.

yes, the report should say "sensitive to xxxx antibiotics and resistant to yyy antibiotics".

Thanks thats odd as I asked GP if Hib was resistant to cefaclor (which i was on last week and did nothing) and she said she didnt know as they had only told her about 2 antibiotics that worked.

She said i should feel much better in 48hrs (this morning) which is why I am panicking about resistance..
