I have a crop of mouth ulcers at the end of my tongue which are very sore....probably due to all the crap I have been eating recently.

Went to Sainsburys today and all the bonjela type stuff said do not take if pregnant ....and pharmacy shut...I can't even drink a hot cup of tea atm...swigging regularly with listerine, but to no avail just yet.

Any ideas ladies?

TIA

Have you tried Bicarb of Soda? Stings but does work. or even toothpaste??

I get horrible ulcers and use Adcortyl in Orabase which is fab, but would need to ask a Pharmacist if safe for you.

I used to use Cortosedyl mouthwash but it's not really allowed in pregnancy - mind you I did with no problems but like many other things it's untested.

The other thing you can try is clove oil - yeah it tastes nasty but it numbs the area and is antiseptic too.

Dont laugh -MARMITE - dab it on the ulcers.

its a shame as it really works and it wont poison your baby.

LittleMissNorty · 01/01/2009 20:47

Oh I really don't know if I could manage that.....I am pretty desperate.....

I get really bad mouth ulcers and I use Frador www.chemistdirect.co.uk/frador-mouth-ulcer-tincture_1_3018.html- it's a tincture which you paint on and it forms a barrier and helps the ulcer heal. That said I can't say specifically say whether it's safe for pregnancy as I've never actually checked. The other thing to use is Aloclair www.chemistdirect.co.uk/aloclair-mouthwash-60ml_1_40025.html and as far as I remember, that's OK for pregnancy. Frador's the best though.

Have a look at Mouthulcers.org as this is a good resource.

I too used cordosyl - with both pregnancies. What about a salt water mouth wash - hot water and a bit of salt
