carpal tunnel syndrome?

Lulumamaloveslatkes · 28/12/2008 15:21

ooooh, interesting, i often have the same problem, and sometimes with both hands. and the odd random tingling/ pins & needles.

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 28/12/2008 15:21

Is it the little finger/part of ring finger side of hand (ulnar nerve) or thumb and first 3 fingers (carpal tunnel)?

Lulumamaloveslatkes · 28/12/2008 15:27

I had carpal tunnel when pregnant. GP gave me a cortisone shot which was almost immediate relief

Sounds a lot like carpal tunnel. I had it v painfully in both pregnancies and have had it mildly every since. I often wake up with numb hands which sometimes hurts and also sometimes happens in the day if hands are still. When I was pregnant I used wrist splints at night and also acupuncture but as it's not so bad now I haven't sought any treatment.

Carpal tunnel vote here.
Put simply its extra fluid and pressure on the nerve in your wrist causing numbness and tingling. Far more commen in women, and easily treated by a simple operation under local anaesthetic

I get this when its about time to go to the osteopath and have a general sort out (about every 10 mths) For me its related to very tense shoulders/upper back and once that is sorted out the tingling goes away. Went last week and feel MUCH better.
