this is the second time but this time there's pains down one leg and some numbness. The doc at A&E (who was about 12 let me tell you) said to 'rest'
I thought if there was leg pain/numbness it was more serious than what I did before?
Its bloody agony and I can barely walk but rest is out of the question as have sick quadraplegic child (who needs lifting etc) and saick mother who I have to go over too.
Taken syndol, paracetomol and nurofen so far. What else should I do and how long will it take to go away?

Quick on the phone to your siblings "I can't walk, dh is looking after dd therefore you need to sort out Mum because I CAN'T"

Ice packs rather than heat, trip to an osteopath? I would go the gp and ask for some stronger pain relief for night times. There are stronger anti inflammatries out there - voltarol I think.

Do you have access to a respite service that would be able to come round and give you a break?

How sick is your mother - can she manage by herself for a day or two?

bellavita · 27/12/2008 11:04

nmc - time to rest me thinks!

Let everyone else run round.

Hope you feel better soon.

sleighgirl . They'd have to get a plane so no chance there! My sister doesn't even believe I have multiple sclerosis and am faking it and my brother doesn't believe dd is quadraplegic with a feeding tube (he's never seen her).
Gonna call osteopath on monday and get an appointment. Got a bag of peas against my back now and am considering going back to bed (pain kept me awake all blardy night)
It probably happenend cos I cuddle dd to sleep then hoick her onto her side of the bed when she sleepeth.

nmc - I take it you are not close then to your family?

needmorecoffee · 27/12/2008 11:09

nope and they live in foreign parts (sis moved to the US in March and bro has lived abroad for years) so ma moved to Bristol to be near me. yaaaay. They don't have kids either so think mothers sit on their arses all day swilling gin and eating bon-bons.

I meant they need to get on the phone and sort out care for your Mum. Tell them you are not able to go and see her or help her, that you will be in bed for at least 3 days and they HAVE to sort it whilst you recover. Alternatively phone SS/your Mum's GP and tell them she is on her own, very unwell and you can't help her for the foreseeable future?

needmorecoffee · 27/12/2008 11:12

there is no help sleighgirl. I tried it all when ma broke her wrist and ankle back in March. It took 5 weeks to get the 'emergency' SW out. A ridiculous situtaion.
My aunt has come up from So'ton this morning and is there so I can rest for the day. She's cleaning out the animals and feeding the dogs thank gawd.

Call an ambulance and let them take her in to hospital?
