Any dentists about? Receding gums

I have noticed recently that the gums around the 2 pre-molars on my bottom teeth seem to have receded quite a lot. On one side the tooth itself feels a bit sensitive. The tooth is not smooth between the tooth and gum.

I had bleeding gums in pregnancy a few years ago but nothing since. My last check up was last February and the dentist saw no problems.

What can I do to prevent them receding further? And can I do anything to make them better?

The Colgate Time Control toothpaste is very good.

Thanks. I havent heard of that. Will it reverse some of the damage or just prevent further?

A very soft toothbrush or electric brush to prevent further damage - I have this problem too. I think dentists can fill/cover the exposed root if it becomes a problem.

my dentist told me to put toothpaste on the exposed bit where the gum had receeded - to help strenghten them a bit.

I have a receding gum on one front lower tooth. I asked the dentist about it and he said it happens as you get older hence the expression 'long in the tooth'
