MarkTheHeraldAngelsStretch · 22/12/2008 16:47

Have you got a headache?

Simplysally · 22/12/2008 16:48

A & E for you when dh gets home then or at least ring NHS direct.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 22/12/2008 16:49

After a mini stroke I would say stuff tea, call an ambulance and get DH to meet you at the hospital. A&E will give the kids sandwiches and water.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 22/12/2008 16:50

I hope it's nothing back socks, but please sort it out, I'm worried now.

thexmasstockingmonsterofdoom · 22/12/2008 16:51

no head ache, nhs direct site says a migraine, dont think my face is collapsy but cant really see it properly in morror to work out,k i think my friend is home as she has just logged on computer, going to call her to come round.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 22/12/2008 16:51

back bad

SpacePuppy · 22/12/2008 16:53

could be start of a migraine.

Niecie · 22/12/2008 16:55

Have you banged your head or rubbed your eyese or something. I am wondering about your retina detaching.

I agree though, whatever the cause, get an ambulance. The sooner any of these things are treated the better the outcome. Put some fruit in a bag for the children. They won't suffer for not having a cooked tea one evening. Please don't let be the thing that stops you.

needmorecoffee · 22/12/2008 16:55

go to A&E. Might be a detatched retina or an eye infection but not possible to tell until a doc sees you.

thexmasstockingmonsterofdoom · 22/12/2008 16:56

cant quite put my finger on what is wrong, I get migraine a lot, but not useually visual ones. friend is coming round so I wont be alone if anything bad happens. probably just a mnigraine, I am a drama queen.

Coldtits · 22/12/2008 16:57

I get this with migraines, sometimes without the headache.

Take two ibuprofen, switch the dinner off and quickly bang togeher some sandwiches for the kids, and LIE DOWN ON THE SOFA with your eyes shut if you can.

Coldtits · 22/12/2008 16:58

It is EXACTLY what happened last time I had a migraine though. Go to A&E if you want though, in fact ignore me and just go.

thexmasstockingmonsterofdoom · 22/12/2008 17:10

stil here nothing getting any worse so hopefully OK. friend says face not droopy and speech is fine.

Do get checked out anyway but this might help put your mind at rest. tests for stroke An article in the the Stroke Assoc mag interprets these test as 'smile, put your arms up in the air and count backwards from 10 to 1.

thexmasstockingmonsterofdoom · 22/12/2008 17:33

thank you, all those test fine, friend thinks migraine, had some tablets and I am deffo feeling a bit less disoriented.

Hope you are feeling better - it sounds exactly like what I get before a migraine. I get a weird feeling that my hand doesn't belong to me and then my vision goes just like as you say - can't see half of anything. Then the lights start all prism-like and zig-zaggy. I don't actually get the headache but feel totally washed out afterwards.

wintercitylover · 22/12/2008 19:55

sounds a bit like an ocular migraine - I had one of these earlier this year very scary. Two black things in my vision followed by wavy lines - lasted about 20 mins very scary.

Hope I never get one again. Hope you are Ok now

thexmasstockingmonsterofdoom · 23/12/2008 07:54

woke up in the night with the same again in the middle of the night, OK now though, must be my xmas migraine, I remember my mum always had one.

Thexmas - are you short sighted? I only ask because I am (very) and the optician told me that if I had any visual disturbances at all to go straight to A+E because it could be a detached retina. One of the symptoms she mentioned was a veil or cloud obscuring part of my vision.

However, I also get migraines where part of my vision just disappears for a while (usually about 20 minutes) so it could well be that too. Hope you feel OK for rest of day (and holiday!)

thexmasstockingmonsterofdoom · 23/12/2008 08:56

No, I am long sighted so think that should be ok, vision is fine this morning, was very odd and quite scary yesterday. I think if I hadnt had the problems in pregnancy I wouldnt have thought that much about it, but I paniced, I really didnt want to go to A & E as I was scared they would keep me in and I am petrified of hospitals.

singyswife · 23/12/2008 09:05

Glad you are better now. How scary for you.

saramoon · 23/12/2008 16:07

I get this roughly every month and it is a sign of a migraine coming on. I take 2 paracetamol straight away and another one about 20 mins later. Then i just get a very dull headache for a few hours.
