I really need DH to get rid of big scabby spot on face - any ideas (apart from a paper bag?)

Its driving me mad, it looks so hideous and minging! Its been there for about three months now. It comes and goes a bit but I am wondering now if it is some sort of boil. He says he is putting TCP and tea tree oil on it but it obviously isnt working. Any suggestions? Alternatively I might just make him wear a paper bag on his head.

Dr as it could be a boil or sebaceous gland that has infection?

themoon66 · 17/12/2008 13:50

Decorate it for Christmas and call it a beauty spot!! Boom boom.

Seriously though... it could be an abcess. My SiL had one and needed antibiotics. Make him a Drs appointment.

thumbElf · 17/12/2008 13:50

a friend of mine used to put Vim on his - but I think MNPT has a point re. the infection - he should see the GP.

janmoomoo · 17/12/2008 14:01

LOL at beauty spot! If I had Vim I probably would be scrubbing him!

Will try and persuade him to get to Docs. He doesnt like taking anti-biotics but it might be that or divorce.

Neat tea tree oil works wonders! Also a natural antiseptic...

mrsdisorganised · 17/12/2008 14:06

just read post properly!!! Sorry!

thumbElf · 17/12/2008 14:07

he can always get topical antibiotics to put on the spot direct - better for him all round.

louii · 17/12/2008 14:08

3 MONTHS?? He needs to go to Dr and get it lanced or similar, better still send him to me, nothing i like better than a good ole squeeze.

Anna8888 · 17/12/2008 14:09

GP. It could be something serious, you know...

janmoomoo · 17/12/2008 14:24

Yes, topical antibionics would be better.

Hard to get him to go to docs but after your advice I will go into super-nag mode until he submits.

I don't want to alarm you, but could it be a rodent ulcer? It's a "harmless" cancer...very easily treatable.

janmoomoo · 18/12/2008 15:50

OMG!! That is exactly what it looks like. I will show him that page - that will surely persuade him to visit docs.

Has he been clawing at it?

Thesugarplummoonmother · 18/12/2008 15:55

My Nan has just had one of those removed from her forehead, she has 20 stitches from her eyebrow to her hairline. I saw her Saturday, she had the op a week last Monday and she had had 2 huge black eyes, which were only just starting to go down.

I'd tell him to get to the Gp's quick, they grow quite quick, although it mostly under the skin where you don't notice it. That's why they are called 'Rodent Ulcers'. He needs it checked asap.

janmoomoo · 19/12/2008 13:05

Oh your poor nan, hope she will be OK.

Georgiemum - maybe I should get him one of those plastic collars they make dogs wear

Anyway he has docs appointment for just after xmas. Lets hope its just a giant zit eh? I never knew about this rodent ulcer and probably he would never go to docs for a spot, I am so glad I asked you all!
