I worked a night shift last night and got no break at all as it was manic on the ward. I get home at 0800 this morning and the boys tell me that there is the school Xmas performance at 0930, they obv want me to attend so I take them to school and watch the performance and get home at 1130am (after being up since 0630 yesterday morning)

Go to bed at about 12.45 this afternoon and Mr Tesco delivery man wakes me up at 1500 with my food order (first bloody time ever that he arrived right at the earliest part of my slot- I thougfht he would get here about 1700 as per usual.

Since being up I have felt really disorientated and queasy, and my throat feels tight and hurts to swallow.

Not sure whether I just feel crap because I have had very little sleep or because im getting that bug thats doing the rounds.

I have work again tonight
Woe is me.

Fingers crossed for you that it is just tiredness.

I have that feeling shite but can't quite put your finger one why feeling aswell today, although I don't feel sick thank god, just really tired and snuffly.

I have to go back out at 6 and stand in the freezing cold for an hour for the dd's carol concert. If it weren't for the mulled wine i'd not be going.

It seems to vary. I had one night of terrible d&v that came upon me suddenly in the night. Fine for a couple of days, then came down with a terrible cough/fluey symptoms and still not ok 2 weeks later.

Any chance you can get an hour or two's sleep before your night shift? It's horrible isn't it the pressure of thinking you really need to be ringing in sick now if you are going to be sick...but then if you perk up later you have wasted some of your "sick time".

tiredemma · 16/12/2008 16:11

I am hoping its just queasiness through being tired. I might see if I can get another couple of hours on the sofa just as you recommend onepiece (are you lollipop???)

Oh gosh IB, mulled wine would lure me into anything

I think it sounds more like the fluey thing tbh. Lack of sleep will deplete your immunity which doesn't help, poor you...I think the queasy thing is likely to be blood sugar after being woken too soon. I get that if I sleep in the day.

put on a scarf (indoors) and an extra cardi, and take some vit c, hot drink of lemon and honey, paracetamol.

crazyloon1 · 16/12/2008 16:35

and don't go to work or you won't have a chance of fighting it off! That's an order.

tiredemma · 17/12/2008 10:01

well I went in, was knackered all night- now have blocked nose and sore throat but dizziness has gone. Thank God.

tbh, the way I knew I had the sickness thing was the projectile vomitting. It was sudden and utterly disgusting! Hope you feel better soon

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 17/12/2008 12:36

So pleased that you haven't got the sickness.

Hope that what you do have turns out to be a tiny, mild cold that is better within a day or two.

IllegallyBrunette · 17/12/2008 17:30

Really pleased for you that it wasn't sickness.

Hope you feel better soon xx
