bronchiolitis and being sick

Don't know what to do. My baby boy has been diagnosed with bronchiolitis and has a really violent cough once he gets going. He is only 10 weeks. The problem is that he cannot seem to keep down his feeds. (bottle fed) He drinks his fill (less than usual amount) then will have a coughing fit and sick it all up. THen i have to start all over again. The most I can get him to take is about an oz. The thing is, he's fed perfectly till now but I'm petrified that it is the start of Reflux as my daughter suffered from this and it picked up at about 8 weeks. Just wanted to know if it;s common for them to be sick with bronchiolitis?? I know I'm worrying..
have any of you been through it and if so any advice? How long does it last? He's been ill for 4 days and it seems to have peaked today. The doc has not given antbiotics as she said it was viral.
Hope to hear from you

10 weeks, poor thing - poor you also.

How wet are his nappies, I would keep a close eye on this.

When he is breathing does he have intercostal recession, where his skin is pulled down between ribs?

When did you see the Dr?

It will not be at all reassuring, but my 4 yr old DS will still cough until he vomits as did my 9 yr old until fairly recently - neither have ever had reflux.

Perhaps feed little and often, rather than trying to get a near normal sized feed into him.

. Will keep an eye on Nappies.
Saw Doc on Thurs. Will see again tomorrow I think.
He is having a couple/ or 1 oz but then cries for a feed because he's hungry. Then is sick. It seems to be a vicious circle. Thanks for repsonse

Ds2 has just had bronchiolitis. We've had a week of him only drinking an oz of milk at a time. The doc said they find it difficult to take a lot of fluid at a time. He said to offer a couple of oz every couple of hours and as long as he has some wet nappies then he is having enough.

D2 is nearly 1 and huge so I didn't worry so much though. Although trousers that fitted him last week are falling off him today!

See the doc again, and get him to tell you what to look out for, - what dehydration or severe breathing problems would look like.

Beet, sickness is very, very common in babies with bronchiolitis. It can also be a sign that they are having to work too hard to breathe though, so if his chest is sucking in, or he seems listless or floppy, or his throat is tugging in at the base, or you're worried he's got worse in any other way, I would go straight back to GP or A&E to get him checked over.

I don't want to scare you, bronchiolitis is pretty common at this time of year and most babies are fine, but a few need help and its best to play safe if worried!

Thanks Elibean
Don't know if you;ll get this but things are looking better now. we're watering down his milk and so far he hasn't chucked up...
Doc says he is showing no signs of dehydration and told me what to look out for.
