Please help - periods every 2/3 weeks - what does it mean?

I'm not using any contraception. I'm 40. In Oct my period was 9 days early, next one was normal, next 8 days early & now I'm starting after 2 weeks.

In Sept. I ended my marriage & early November was bullied at work so much I was off with stress for a bit, but things are not so bad now.

So I put the 1st two odd ones down to stress, but thought things would settle down this month. I'm usually really regular & am a bit scared as have no idea what it could mean.

Can anyone advise?

I'm 41 and notice my cycle has got shorter, I presume it is all part of being perimenopausal which I am now.

Sorry to hear about your stresses, hope things stay on the up.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along. But you could also pop to the doctor for a check up?

Thanks, seems so early to be perimenopause. I will go to the Dr, but just wondered if anyone had any ideas...

I went to the doctors with very similar problems. Possible reasons seem to be perimenopause, an infection, cervical issues or fibroids. In my case the last three were ruled out, so I'm left with perimenopausal. Re the fibroids, which the GP seemed to think was the most likely cause, I had an ultrasound exam at the hospital.

Strangely my periods seem to have sorted themselves out, at least temporarily - so don't assume you'll be stuck like this for years . And it could be stress - sounds like you've had a very rough time of it recently.

Sorry to hear you've had such a rough time. It's probably a good idea to get the GP to do a blood test, to check your hormone levels, and see if you're still ovulating.

what ever else you do, avoid the mirena coil. it causes havoc!

Similar situation here, 18-20 day cycle at present seeing a consultant next week with variety of Gynae issues but GP seems to think it is perimenopause - I am 36

Thanks for replies. I spoke to the practice nurse at the GPs today & am having blood tests for thyroid & anaemia on Friday. Am to make an appt. to see Dr when results come.
She was pretty reassuring & said sometimes these things happen & it might well be stress...

I will be needing to get back into the world of contraception soon all being well.

Could do without anything else to worry about.
