Glucose Tolerance Tests (non pg related)

I'm probably going to regret asking as it's just more reason for me to worry...

On Monday I had a GTT, which is a post pg one to make sure my gestational diabetes had gone. Forgot to ask when I would hear, heard nothing then today a letter arrives asking me to go back in a month for a non fasting test (this one was fasting). Do you think this means I might be diabetic? I'm away at the moment so can't speak to dr. DH read the letter out to me. I was expecting it to be ok.

Any clues would help. I have cancelled previous appointments at the hospital because of childcare and they were always made in twos so I'm hoping it's just routine.

Not sure, bumping for you.

it is possible that you have impaired glucose tollerance, although I have never had a repeat with my GTTs post pregnancy and i did have impaired tollerance

GTT is the devinitive diabetes test so the fact they are doing more tests would suggest to me that it is probably not diabetes

whatever the reason the fact they are not seeing you for a month is a good sign.

Right, just got back home and actually read the compliment slip letter. All it says is please make an appointment for a repeat blood test (non fasting) in 1 month (FBC) which I imagine is full blood count.

So, nothing about glucose at all... Still confused.

I think it sounds like it may be completely unconnected to your GTT actually. Did you lose a lot of blood after the birth - the full blood count would be checking your haemoglobin and not really anything to do with your gestational diabetes. Plus it would be a bit quick to expect the result of the GTT ime. I would predict you'll get another letter about your GTT - you should chase this up if you don't hear anything.
