Is this chickenpox?

Ok - started new thread as others seem v long.
Tried trawling through them all but gave up!

Most of ds' nursery have had chickenpox over the last month. He woke up today with about a dozen small red spots - few on tummy, back, arms, armpit, one ear, scalp - so I was pretty sure he was getting the pox. However, no more spots yet (or at least don't think so) and they don't seem to have changed very much in appearance. They look a bit like a flea bite(come here you bloody cats) although one or two seem to have tiny heads. Maybe i'm wrong, but if this is the pox shouldn't he be covered with spots that are already turning blistery? Or can it all develop very slowly?
He has been ok in himself apart from a bit grizzly mid afternoon. Gave him medised whereupon he slept for about two hours. Now awake, happy but bit subdued. (No doubt will truly get in to his stride at 8pm just as Buffy starts). He is supposed to go to nursery tomorrow - obviously won't take him if he get worse, but don't know what to do if things stay the same.

Any advice gratefully received.

After 12 hrs each chickenpox spot is easily recognisable - big fluid-filled blister at the top. Do you have a close neighbour or friend who could take a look - anyone who's seen chickenpox before will know straight away.

The spots develop in batches, and sometimes they can start quite slowly, and some children only get a mild dose. I expect by the morning it will be very clear to you whether the spots have changed to chickenpox blisters or not.

Thanks KMG.

Right - ds just had a bath and I found loads more spots (particularly around his bits poor soul!) - none very blistery although slightly blister head on some. Has to be the pox. He is currently covered in calamine and bouncing on my bed, so doesn't seem to have affected his loopyness yet. Any idea how much bicarb of soda to add to bath - and how often to bath? Also any homeopathic stuff I can use?

willow, you might be lucky and he might only get it mildy, my ds did and was ok a few days later. He was just fascinated with his spots and wondered why I was keen for him to have them (wanted CP caught and over with really). Sorry, no other ideas, he wouldn't let me near him with calamine or anything. Hope your ds is the same!
