dd is just getting over a cold and is still quite snotty so this morning when she vomited i thought oh its probably her way of getting the mucus up, she has continued throughout the day has vomited approx 6 times but each time there has been loadsa sick and has been projectile, the amount has become less but only because i havent let her eat anything since and there is nothing else in her stomach, she has been having drinks but vomiting them straight back up, getting quite worried now, she hasnt got a temp and seems ok in between being sick....any ideas?

any advice?

tia

Hi lilsmum, we're going through this at the moment with ds (20months) since Thursday evening. This is the fourth day now The first day was the worst and now he's sick only a few times a day. Stupidly after no sickness for most of yesterday I let him have half a yoghurt which was a big NO-NO I have since read. This link might be of interest. We've cut out all dairy and just slowly giving sips of water and diluted apple juice. He will eat some toast (make sure it is brown) and rice crispies, but poor little mite is so shaky today.. no energy at all. Apparently sleep is good for resting the tummy so let her but keep a close eye on her. My ds won't take the dioralyte so I'm hoping to sneak some into his next glass of juice. He's lost 3lb in 3.5 days which is 10% of his body weight... almost the same as me losing a stone... god I feel for him, I just want to click my fingers and make him better... know exactly how you are feeling. Some of his friends have had this too so it must be something going round like dinny says. Hope she is better today [hugs]

PS. Also rang NHS Direct yesterday and it took 1hr30 for them to ring back, but unfortunately I'd had to pop out then to get in some supplies. Haven't bothered trying again as I'm sure the advice on here is the same they would give. Just really have to keep a close eye on the nappies, eyes, and mouth for dryness.

this is the first chance i have had to update you all, only just got ack from the hospital. took her to a&e last night at abot 6pm, they transfered us to a different hospital which a childrens ward, she was seriously dehydrated and was put on a drip from 2am till 11am this morn, glucose and pottasium (sp?) she has gasterenteristis (sp?), they took bloods and her kidney result was on the high side, she was very floppy and vomiting every little sip of water taken, she has been a little better this morn so they let us bring her home at 5pm, my request, but we still have a bypass straight ack onto the ward if need be.

thanks for all the replies, and advice, i am so glad i went with my instinct in the end and not listened to my G.P

i know , the worst thing of it all was it took them 3 attempts to get the drip in her tiny little hand, they are all bruised and i had to hold her down on the ed with her screaming, i had a huge lump in my throat, it was awful!!
