HAVE POSTED IN CHAT BUT IT MOVES TO QUICK
dd (4) has thread worms, or at least i think she does,i have never seen any but every symptom is identical, even down to her being fine in the day and then starting off crying hysterically and itching at around 6 30 pm, this has happened for the past 2 nights, yesterday we gave her ovex at 3 30 pm and hoped she would be ok tonight as apparantly it only takes 24 hours to work(?)
but again she started off around 6 30, she ahs now just fell asleep afetr being inconsolable, is this normal behaviour from children with thread worms? can anyone share how long their dc's took to stop itching and how long the medicine takes to work?

My own dd had no symptoms at all when she had them, but it varies hugely and I've seen loads of threads about TW where kids have been behvaing exactly like your dd. Poor love, it sounds awful.

Ovex takes at least 24 hours to start to kill them off, and they tend to come rushing out to lay eggs when they know they're dying (well, not as conscious as that, but YKWIM!) so not surprised she's still had a rough time tonight. Try smearing vaseling or loads of sudacreme round her anus as a barrier to the itch, and you could always give her Piriton or Medised if they have helped make her drowsy in the past, to help her ignore the itch and get to sleep. Piriton won't work directly on the itch, but could help her let go of it, iyswim.

Fingers crossed for better night tomorrow, and don't forget to repeat dose in two weeks (and clean/take all the precautions possiblel wihtout driving yourself mad)!

Hi Loupy

Have you treated the whole family; stripped all the beds; vacuumed the whole house malarky? If you don't do that she will get them straight back again.
