Does anyone have any experience of this please? My sister had a melon sized cyst removed 4 weeks ago and they have found a small amount of cancer in the histology. Can anyone give me any info as to what they will do for her? She is 34.

Why don't you talk to Ovarian Cancer Action? The people there are very nice.

I suspect, I'm afraid, that this will mean a fair degree of further surgery, plus radiation and/or chemo...

thank you. i'm pretty sure they've caught it early, but i suspect she isn't telling me everything as I am 38 weeks pg. I'll see what I can find from them. thanks again

It very much depends on the type of cancer.

Exactly the same thing happened to me - but the cancer was a very low grade cancer that was not particularly harmful and only spread to other parts of the body very very slowly.

I didn't need any other treatment once the tumour was removed, but I had to go for scans every 3 months for a year.

I hope your sis is ok

thank you. I feel so bad for her. the cyst had 3 litres of fluid in it, it was huge. her partner of 18yrs left her 2 weeks before the op and she has 2 young kids. it just sucks. my mum is staying with her. I believe that it was only a small amount they found, so hopefully they won't need to do too much

you can get different types of cancer - some "milder" than others and some "pre-cancerous" so hold tight until she knows what she is dealing with....they may have removed it all already. Hopefully the oncologist will be able to explain more.

Please don't google until you know the type. Cancer Research UK website is fantastic for info for patients.
