If you could just give me a couple of examples of your daily diet that would be great.

Breakfast - a bowl of porridge (4 tablespoons of oats) and water OR 3 slices weight watchers bread toasted with marmite.

Banana or some other fruit mid morning.

Lunch - salad or a sandwich with tuna/ham/chicken in it, sometimes with a cupful of homemade veg soup (today I have butternut squash).

An apple/orange/grapes.

Dinner - something with rice/pasta or roast dinner with loads of veg. If rice or pasta based, I will have a huge salad to go with it. We do eat meat every day.

I drink about 6 cups of coffee a day (not good I know), but do use skimmed milk.

We always have plenty of fruit in the house to snack on.

Morning: toasted baguette and butter (about a 1/3 of a baguette or a croissant and a couple of cups of coffee.

Lunch: a small salad and a small piece of meat, perhaps a yoghourt and/or a piece of fruit

Supper: meat/two or three vegetables/a carbohydrate and some fruit. A couple of small glasses of wine.

My diet is based on firm foundations with a healthy blob of realism!
I don't need to weight watch and I prefer my foods to be mostly unprocessed. But I am often pressed for time. The key is balance IMO.
So breakkie is porridge, or brown toast and home-mdae jam or peanut butter.
Mid morning, fruit, nuts. Lunch is home made veg soup and brown bread. Fruit.
Snacks are variable depending on what is around (At work there are often too many biscuits)
Dinner made from scratch with lots of veg/salad/beans etc with chicken or whatever. Even if it's just spag bol, I bung some lentils in and extra veg (more to try and healthify DH )
But there is always room in my life for cake.

Breakfast: muesli or bran flakes with chopped up fruit (whatever we have) and/or brown toast with non-dairy spread

Lunch: pasta with pesto and green salad, or sandwich on brown, either ham and salad, or tuna and salad, or cheese and salad. Sometimes a yoghurt or lowfat chocolate mousse...

Dinner: meat or fish with potatoes or brown rice, and green veggies, occasional curry or Thai food out as treat.

Snacks: very few, but am hopeless re chocolate and always have some after meals

Drinks: one or two cups of tea, one cup of insant coffee, lots of water.

Not hugely healthy, but reasonable, and lots of fibre.

My core diet is quite saintly, but I ruin it by snacking between meals.

Breakfast:

Porridge made with soya milk, sprinkled with seeds and fruit OR muesli with natural yoghurt, mug of White Tea (no milk).

Lunch: Home made vegetable soup with wholemeal toast OR sandwich (hummus or cheese) made with wholemeal bread, fresh fruit.

Supper: Meat or fish with 2 veg, or pasta with sauce and salad, or risotto, or takeaway curry (vegetarian).

Snacks: brazil nuts, dreid apricots, toast and jam or marmite.

Also wine, the kids' sweets and chocolate and biscuits, that's the bad bits.

It looks all pretty normal and pretty good, I think!
For breakfast, there is meusli, porrige toast, and yoghurt and fruit and fruit juice (sounds like a hotel buffet. It's not.
Lunch is bread and cheese, hummous, cold meat and salad or soup made with whatever veg is lying around.

Supper is often pasta with a tomato sauce, or sausages, or something very easy.

I do make a roast every now and again, but don't eat much fish, mostly because I think the sea is running out and I don't like buying fish from the supermarket.

I drink too much wine and we have takeaways every now and again.

onepieceoflollipop · 21/11/2008 20:39

Is the sea running out really BlaDeBla? - I thought it was just certain fish that are more "at risk".

To those that have commented abuot too much choice - I fully agree, to counteract this I often shop at Aldi (v cheap) or Co op (v local). Also it is much quicker, only 4 aisles to go down - Sainsburys and the bigger shops take ages to get round.

BlaDeBla · 22/11/2008 10:29

I think fishing practice has a lot to be desired, and I'm not sure we look after the sea terribly well.

I envy you having a local'ish Aldi!
