I think it would be iron that would be the worry so you're ok on that score. I think the rest is likley to give him the runs at worst. I'm not an expert though so i hope he's ok.

ledodgy · 18/11/2008 12:41

What vitamins did they contain I think vitamin A and vitamin B is a worry?

WilyWombat · 18/11/2008 12:41

If NHS Direct have a really long queue you could try talking to your local pharmacist - they are usually really helpful.

cupsoftea · 18/11/2008 12:43

Call an ambulance - I don't know the levels but an overdose can be fatal for kids - it's the iron level.

morningpaper · 18/11/2008 12:43

I would take to A&E

Wisp · 18/11/2008 12:44

nurse is looking into the ingredients. He got the safety lid off too!

I agree A&E. I have just googled and it's not only iron that can be dangerous.

morningpaper · 18/11/2008 12:45

I would take your child and the bottle to A&E immediately

Flightattendant4 · 18/11/2008 12:45

If it's these there's no iron in them

Flightattendant4 · 18/11/2008 12:46

morningpaper · 18/11/2008 12:46

I am not qualified but my first thought is that he might be sick anyway and if not will just poo them out, possibly rather fast

Can you make him sick? Salt water drink might do it. They won't burn him on the way up anyway.

stitch · 18/11/2008 12:47

how old is he?
try and get him to vomit, stick your fingers down his throat , it should mostly come out.
ds, aged 6 ate about half that amount. they were the yummy chewy kind. dsis, a doctor, wasnt worried at all. didnt even insist on the vomitting. although she did consider sticking a pencil in other ds's throat to clear his airway ( a thoractomy i think) when he was choking on a boiled sweet that very week

LilRedWG · 18/11/2008 12:47

A&E with bottle. NHS Direct will probably recommend that anyway.

CharCharGabor · 18/11/2008 12:47

I would go to A&E too. Hope he is ok.

Flightattendant4 · 18/11/2008 12:49

i think he's 3 or 4

stretchmarkqueen · 18/11/2008 12:50

It says not to induce vomiting!

Flightattendant4 · 18/11/2008 12:50

gawd, getting one vitamin pill down some children would be quite an achievement

Wisp · 18/11/2008 12:51

looking at a database ffs....laughed when I mentioned a & e, working out the vit a amount he has had

OP posts:
Wisp · 18/11/2008 12:51

hes 3

OP posts:
Flightattendant4 · 18/11/2008 12:52

Stretch - I am thinking that is because they want to avoid risk of choking. I can't see any other reason not to.

It's not like its caustic, I know that's best not vommed up again if swallowed as it burns you twice then.

Wisp · 18/11/2008 12:53

50,000 of vit a she said, only toxic at 300k
