What does one wear to see the osteopath?

Genuine question! Do you have to strip off or what? Was planning to wear breastfeeding top as will have baby with me (osteo's receptionist is desperate to have him while I'm being done!) but suddenly realised I may have to reveal my slitty vest.

clean decent undies just in case.
i saw physio at work today. shaved pits and wore nice bra. had to strip bottom layer. hairy legs and grey saggy knickers how

cocolepew · 17/11/2008 17:26

A clean bra and clean knicks. You may need to strip off, but I'm sure he wouldn't be to traumatised by your slutty slitty vest. .

big pants and decent clean bra
you will have to strip

I was mortified as the guy was seriously good looking
don't wear white pants with skid marks on

shave armpits and legs

Buckets · 17/11/2008 17:37

Don't wear a thong.

thumbwitch · 17/11/2008 17:44

matching bra and nicks and defo no thong.
Most osteos I know expect you to strip down to underwear.

Clean feet, shaved legs and trimmed personal hair can save embarrassment (yours, not theirs - they probably won't care!)

midnightexpress · 17/11/2008 17:45

Not see-through knickers, as my cousin once inadvertently did...

whoops, bloody computer!

hollyhobbie · 17/11/2008 19:19

Everything people said here. I take loose shorts to my physio (I know it's not quite the same thing), then I don't have to be quite so fastidious with my 'personal grooming'.

How about leggings? Do you think I could keep those on?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 17/11/2008 21:09

What are you seeing him for? Basically he'll need to be able to see what he's doing and the problem may not be where the pain is IYSWIM (eg you could get pain in one place caused by something niggly in another). He will have seen everything (and probably much worse) before

SoupDragon · 17/11/2008 21:09

just phone the receptionist and ask her.

edam · 17/11/2008 21:12

Do not wear an old bra that has gone grey in the wash even though it's clean. And if you see an osteopath more than once, don't rely on it being the same one. I was soooo embarrassed when my normal very nice lady was unexpectedly replaced by a gorgeous man in his early 20s and I was wearing my 'everything else is in the wash, this will do' bra.

ChukkyPig · 17/11/2008 21:12

BIG PANTS!!!! Is quite obscenely embarassing when you have to strip to a thong then allow the fit male healthcare person to manipulate your lower limbs .

I have a pair of little short things expecially now!

ChukkyPig · 17/11/2008 21:15

Ah having read the thread though [whoops] I see I am not alone! Fit male physio types and thongs seem to be a theme...

Leggings prob won't be any good as if he needs to do things to your legs he'll need a good feel and to be able to see muscle tone etc.

You could cut a pair of old leggings down maybe? Or just find some big pants - they've seen it all before after all!

thumbwitch · 17/11/2008 21:38

heh heh RubyR - I know EXAcTLY what you mean! lucky for me I have been seeing the same bloke for many years now so I don't feel quite so bad.
