fell over on some steps yesterday, got an inversion sprain of my right ankle and it's pulled a chip of bone off as well. think it's called a 'sprain fracture'?

A&E put me in a temporary cast, just half plaster underneath, and am seeing fracture clinic on Wed. Anyone a doctor or had one of these? Do you know if they're likely to put me in a proper cast on Wed or is it support bandage and paracetamol time? It's a bit of a bind with work etc so am stressing a bit.

p.s. am also 22 weeks pregnant

I have had this twice. VERY painful.
Once I broke my nose in the same fall!

My ankle swelled right up and turned spectacular shades of blue, green, orange and purple.

Both times I was given a crepe bandage and ibuprofen.

It go better quite quickly but that ankle is always a bit weak.

Good luck!

thank you! am hoping it won't be a cast, but the A&E doctor didn't know for sure. part of me sort of wants a cast so work know I'm not making it up, but it would be a complete pain the arse.

I hope it goes well for you.
i can only stress that it went from being really painful and unwalkable on to being just stiff and hobblable practically overnight after very few days.

hello! saw the clinic today and they liberated me from the cast and said just to rest it as much as possible and keep it elevated. It's still pretty swollen and a beautiful blue colour, but it's so good to be out of that dreadful cast.

going to have physio to make sure I get the full range of movement back, but that's about it.

hooray!
