Cough been ongoing for months now, seems to have worsened no end over the past week and now if I'm doing anything, i.e. I walked from the car up the stairs into my house and I'd to sit down as I didn't feel I could get a breath.

Phoned nhs 24 but haven't heard back yet, someone is supposed to be calling me.

Back is sore, probably with coughing and I sound really wheezy.

Any ideas on what to do, what it may be? I've had bronchitis before, for which I was given an inhaler, since yesterday I've been using this inhaler but I'm sure it's making my heart race.

A steroid inhaler can cause tachyardia (fast heart beat) but only when used too much.

If you are wheezy, dizzy and short of breath I suggest you pop to A&E so they can check you over. You may have a chest infection but if the inhaler is not helping then you may need something else. Is the inhaler in date? What sort is it and how many times are you using it?

Hi Sorry i haven't replied until now, been out the hospital.

Was given a nebuliser? Sorry may be spelt wrong, anti biotics (amoxycillan) and steroids (8 x 5mg) for the next five days.

He didn't really say what was wrong though and I was soo tired I forgot to ask.

Any ideaS?

Originally the nurse on the phone had suggested a lung infection.

Inhaler is in date and I'd only used it twice, both times it made me feel funny and I thought it better not to continue.

Thanks

It sounds like a chest infection. A nebuliser is the same as taking rather alot of doses of an inhaler and helps to open up the airway. The steriods you have been given will do exactly the same thing. They will open up the ends of your airway (bronchioles) whilst the antibiotics kill off any bugs that shouldn't be there.

I'm so pleased you have been looked at and have some medication. I thought you may have gone to the hospital when you didn't come back. Look after yourself, take it easy and keep warm. Plenty of fluids and rest.

Thanks..

The doctor has said I shouldn't go into placement tomorrow, I'm @ a local primary school. But at the moment I really do feel up to it, i only have five days left and if I don't do the time now, I'l need to do it at some point.

(This wouldn't be so awful as I'm actually going in on a Friday when I'm not in placement to gain additional experience to be able to put this on my Post Grad application for teaching)

My question is.. do you think I'd be ok to risk going?

Or is it as my mum said, a risk in terms of going just now might end up making me ill longer if i don't give myself a chance to recover?

Thanks

p.s I have to ask.. are you a poster who's name is usually much shorter and contains part of your current name? I'm not an "outer-er" just a nosy parker and thought I recognised u!

I'm avenanap. I get bored. I put the avena so everyone knew who I was.

I doubt you would be infectious but it depends on how you are feeling. I would check with the school and see what their policy is. There's no point ushing yourself if you feel ill though, you'll need more time off to recover if you do so it is counter productive.

I hope you are feeling better soon.
