Hi,

Feel like name changing as this is so embaressing but here goes.........

I have this huge spot / boil that keeps appearing on my chin about 3 days before my period and staying for over a week . This has happened for the last 3 months. This month I feel another brewing on the other side.

I have never been one for spots since my teens so am finding this really embaressing.

DH is not helping as he keeps touching it, pointing at it and generally making fun of me.

I don't know what to do.

Is it my age? (39) The pill?

Can anyone help please as next month I have 2 big Christmas parties to go to and I don't want this to appear again.

Please [Blush]

Maybe you need anitbiotics to get rid of it for good. As your GP what he thinks.

LynetteScavo · 08/11/2008 16:03

Maggs: "Hello GP, I ahve a spot on my chin"
GP:

no, really, I think you might need antibiotics...does it totally go at times?

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 08/11/2008 16:04

i wonder if it is worth cutting out dairy or something for a while, I believe chin related skin things are to do with bowel issues - maybe it's trying to tell you you're intolerant to something?

emma1977 · 08/11/2008 17:39

Most likely hormonal acne.

Sometimes a change of pill or antibiotic can help.

If its a inflammed lump that never discharges, then using Freederm overnight can help it calm down.

MaggsS · 09/11/2008 06:45

It never completely goes just sort of flattens.
At the moment I seem to have 2 more appearing. The largest one is so sore and I feel as if everyone is looking at the spot not me

"I believe chin related skin things are to do with bowel issues"

Does that belief have a scientific basis and an explanation? If so, I would be interested to hear the relationship between spots on chin and intolerances.

poshtottie · 09/11/2008 07:51

maggs, you are not alone, I have a huge one on my chin and it is really painful.

Mine is definitely hormonal.

I should get my sister to send me a sample of dermalogicas special clearing booster. It is fab.

MaggsS · 09/11/2008 08:33

Thanks poshtottie.

I changed my pill about a year ago after my 3 rd child. I have had all sorts of side effects...headaches, cramps, no periods, heavy and painful ones the list goes on.

I think I will make a visit to the doctor but hes not the sympathic type.

Would be interested in the clearing booster.Tell me more please

maggs, it helps clear spots fast. It is expensive but worth it. I've been putting tee tree on mine and it is looking worse.

The clearing booster normally clears them in 2 days.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 09/11/2008 11:54

Oh just seen this, Cote I don't know. It came from something I read regarding vaguely reflexology type Chinese Medicine type naturopathy things.

No idea I wish I was more helpful.

MaggsS · 09/11/2008 13:08

So where do you get this clearing booster and what's it's excact name please?

OP posts:
CoteDAzur · 09/11/2008 14:39

Flight - Then the answer is 'no'. Sorry, but it doesn't sound credible.

Maggs - Your spots on the chin sound like infection of the hair follicles - they are very deep so squeezing won't work, they go down but flare up again, and they hurt a lot.

Antibiotics clear them out.

poshtottie · 09/11/2008 15:36

Maggs, dermalogica is the brand, and its called "special clearing booster". You can get it in some salons or i soppose you could buy it off the internet.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 09/11/2008 15:42

Alright Cote, keep yer hair on

Different people, different beliefs etc. I was only trying to be helpful - I'm not sure where I read it but you aren;t the OP and she might have found it vaguely useful - unlikely, but possible

poshtottie · 09/11/2008 17:22

maggs, I've just spoke to my sister and she said the same, probably a damaged hair follicle and unfortunately age does have something to do with it. Our skin can be more prone to spots in our thirties and forties. Great!!!

Dermalogica have brought out quite a few new products apparently but I think they still are doing something similiar to the special clearing booster.

Ds 2 has just pointed to my spot and said "whats that mummy?"

MaggsS · 09/11/2008 18:18

Thanks, Kids are great!

My hubby is the worst. He keeps staring at it when talking to me and I am getting really narked

I will check out the internet.
