and is it safe?
I have incredibly sensitive teeth to cold air, and despite wearing a sports mouth guard, am still in pain for several hours once it flares up.
Found this on internet, and wondered if it was legit.
\any information/advice would be appreciated

Ooo bump, I'd be interested as well. Have always had sensitive teeth but recently have got even more sensitive. Have tried Sensodyne Pronamel but doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Me neither. i'm starting to dread going outside at the moment

Reading up on it, I think the thing I'd be nervous of is that it's fluoride free.

Now, not 100% sure, but a couple of comments I've read on various sites have implied that the FDA only regulate fluoride content in toothpaste, so this would put it outside the FDA's jurisdiction?

Which makes me a bit nervous that no regulatory body has commented/approved its claims.

RubberDuck · 03/11/2008 18:06

Hmm... have found the clinical trial stuff and a (non-expert) glance it seems legit if rather a small sample size (20 people).

There is also an article in the guardian about the active ingredient NovaMin here

I think I'd still rather have a British version which will be subject to regulations here than have an American import which is made in China.

Any dentists available to comment?

barbiehouse · 03/11/2008 18:07

i know, I was worried for same reason, and am wondering if it has had any write ups in the dentists journals.

Okay, the Guardian article is less impressive now I've found another site with almost word for word identical info (which implies to me that all they did was reprint the press release Periproducts gave them).

AH - it does seem that there IS a British version: SensiShield

... still investigating (sorry for spamming your thread!)

RubberDuck · 03/11/2008 18:14

Hmm, I'm going to give SensiShield a go I think. It's been mentioned in Boots Magazine (apparently, according to the MoneySaving Expert Forums) so I'm assuming it's been through all the regulatory UK bodies so should be safe (even if it isn't that effective, lol).

well found! think i'll give it a shot too. maybe we should start a new thread for that!
