Worms...?

Just had a text from my friend who has no internet access asking me to find out about worms, as she's just had a poo & found '3 things about a millimetre long each. A kind of creamy yellow colour...'. She says she also has an itchy bum.

I've had a quick Google, but can't come up with anything definitive - she's completely freaking out & I'd like to be able to tell her something soon. Obviously I've told her to go to the doctor ASAP, but she'd like some information soon. If anyone can even suggest a more specific diagnosis, that'd be great.

Thanks

Sounds like threadworms which is very easy treated. Or you can leave it and just ensure you are scrupulous about cleaning. Wash all bed linen, towels and sponges etc. Then clean under nails too each time you go to loo. It is self limiting as can only continue if you ingest the eggs.

Normally get it from kids

You can get a tablet or liquid from boots but still need to clean everything and be scrupulous about hands going near mouth.

I found this

"Mebendazole - this kills the threadworms, usually with only one dose (100mg), and is the preferred treatment for anyone over two years of age. If re-infestation does occur, a repeated dose can be prescribed."

& I assume that's what you meant?
