Nasty rash on neck could nits cause it?

We've had the blighters for a couple of months now and I have caught them now. It's a nightmare as my hair is thick long and wavy.

I've developed an itchy red rash all around the back of my neck and shoulders and wonder if it's related?

Yes my dd got what looked liek a heat rash on the nape of her neck ,I showed it to the pharmicist and she said a lot of people who have nits have a reaction like this .

Thanks, is there anything I can get for it, or do I have to wait until I'm rid of them?

I'm using hedrin, also nitty gritty every other day on all of us but they keep coming back from nursery with big ones.

I think I'd stop using the Hedrin and just use the nitty gritty comb with cheap conditioner - and do it everynight - if you miss a night it just gives the nits a chance to hatch and then the lice lay more eggs (thus never ending cycle......)

You have to use a chemical treatment, it is the only way to get rid of them. I'm not surprised they keep coming back. I dont know where this myth came from to use conditioner or olive oil. It only helps to comb the nitty gritty comb through easier. I do agree though that it has to be done daily.

deste - I don't agree at all. Most of the mums I know at dd's school wet comb with a nitty gritty. It's all I've ever used when they get nits (has been 3x in about 6 years)

If you are on the ball ie every night, comb through and kill insects and remove nits as you are obviously doing then they will eventually go. It is a slow method. But it is obvious from these threads that that is not happening, I swear some people sre convinced the conditioner kills them off. So to those people who dont bother then chemicals will be the best option.
