rigid pea size lump in wrist

overnight a pea sized rigid lump popped up on the side of my left wrist, bit tender, the skin moves over it and it is very hard, do you think it is a ganglion and worth taking it to the doc's?

Sounds like a gangliion - I had one for years, it came and went of it's own accord. My Dr said that they could remove it in an operation, but it doesn't do any harm and I felt there were better things for the nhs to put their resources into. the only time it bothered me was if I accidently bumped it, it didn't hurt but was a peculiar sensation.

It's been gone now for ages - I quite miss it.

Sounds like it. I had one. It has just disappeared. Mind you, I've been taking enough painkillers and anti-inflammatories to perk a cadaver up

definately sounds like a ganglion.

doc will tell you to stop MNetting. I have a wee one on my right wrist and it's only appeared since I got my laptop!

Think you can whack it with a bible. Breaks it up, I presume.

ditto. had one too. stopped doing what was aggravating it (erm tons of writing, nothing rude) and it went down

Hi all you guys!! well went to docs today and showed him my pea sized lump on my wrist and he has referred me to orthapaedic consultant as he thinks it is a bone spur as it is to hard to be a ganglion!! what is a bone spur????

I was going to suggest hitting it with a large hammer (which is what my uncle did to his ganglion), but if it's a bone spur, then perhaps not!

I've had ganglions and bone spurs but I'm still not sure what a bone spur is.

My bone spur was on the top of my foot and I was referred to a consultant who said he would remove it as it wouldn't go on its own accord. Several months later whilst on the waiting list for surgery it did just that - diappeared and has never come back!
