Hi. Sorry, I dont know where to post but abit concerned and worried.

Since having DD2 who is now 2 during sex I dont seem to be as moist as what I used to be! I know this is normal after having kids but I have never really said anything to DH about it and dont know how to aproach the situation. I tend to need abit of 'extra stimulation' down there but sometimes im so dry I cant do it. I do have some oil I could use but dont want to stop halfway through and say hold on let me just put some of this on!!!

How can i do it discretely and tell DH about it?

i'm a lawyer by trade..... but don't ovelook my wd40 suggestion will you?

morningpaper · 20/10/2008 22:32

KY is water-soluble innit?

morningpaper · 20/10/2008 22:33

WD40 also has that handy nozzle

codtrolfreaky · 20/10/2008 22:34

think that's my cab now....

misi · 20/10/2008 22:34

ky is a starch based lubricant so is water soluable but continued use inside the vagina can lead to irritation

morningpaper · 20/10/2008 22:35

but then you would stop

it's not like you are committing yourself to anything

surely?

misi · 20/10/2008 22:36

if the underlying cause is not treated then continued use is neccessary. depends on the frequency of intercourse, but 2 weeks use would mean about 1 months abstinence after

npg1 · 20/10/2008 22:37

OMG I cant believe what people are posting!

Does anyone have any experience of irritation due to KY?

They use it for medical purposes don't they?

singleWhiteMale · 20/10/2008 22:42

This is good:

www.harlube.co.uk/astroglide.asp?prodid=1

seems expensive, but you don't use much. It feels very natural too.

singleWhiteMale · 20/10/2008 22:45

KY isn't strictly a lubricant; it was originally produced to make internal examinations easier and doesn't work as well as something like astroglide.

codtrolfreaky · 20/10/2008 22:46

but misi, why would 2 weeks use (of lubricant i assume?) mean 1 months abstinence?

itisn't wrong / unnatural for there to be dryness ie post menopause.... is result of normal hormonal changes surely.... so trying to correct underlying causes "naturally" seems rather pointless endevour....

misi · 20/10/2008 22:54

codtrolfreaky if you used KY to lubricate for 2 weeks then it would take about a month for the irritation to subside.
I don't know NPG1's circs but she does suggest it is hormaonal. if due to post pregnancy imbalances, then the cause can be treated and no lubricant would be needed after a while. if post menopausal, then lubrication is the usual method and so the corrst type is important if intercourse is going to be had on a regular basis.

I don't mind if you don't approve or like natural remedies, but remeber modern drugs/medicine come from natural medicine in fact around 90% of all drugs today are natural substances that have been genetically altered to allow them to be patented. in the natural pharmacy, many things can be acheived that modern medicine can't touch and nothing is pointless is if makes life better/easier or ''run smoother'' in this case!!

hotCheeseBurns · 20/10/2008 22:55

"if due to post pregnancy imbalances, then the cause can be treated"

treated how?

codtrolfreaky · 20/10/2008 23:01

with herbs i am guessing....

misi · 20/10/2008 23:01

depends on what the imbalance is, oestrogenic, progesteronic or whether still breat feeding etc as to what the treatment is.
to work this out, a face to face consultation would be needed to work out the history of the problem and determine a course of action

scaryfucker · 20/10/2008 23:10

is progesteronic really a word ???

misi · 20/10/2008 23:12

not sure
