Chin hairs are destroying my confidence

I have had the odd dark stubbly hair on my chin for years, but now in my forties they are developing at an alarming rate. I currently pluck them but really don't feel happy unless I can do this every day, I would say I have about 20 hairs that I can feel and need to pluck. I am becoming so obsessed that I keep tweezers everywhere. I also have quite long very fair hairs on my throatand neck. To my complete horror I noticed a few of these were dark the other ay and plucked them out.

It is getting to the point that I dont want to look people in the face as I am sure theyy all see these horrible hairs. People often touch their chin when they are talking to me and of course I think this is because they subliminally notice my chin hair. I am in other respects an attractive woman but this is making my life a misery. I dont have the time for regular electrolysis although I have promised it to myself when my youngest starts school.

Just needed to vent.

jmupingbeans are you hairs fair or dark?

pinkmagic1 · 20/10/2008 12:19

Have you tried threading. Its a very effective form of facial hair removal thats common in other, mostly eastern cultures, lots of salons in this country are starting to do it now. Its much less painful than waxing and you don't have to wait till the hairs are long. It normally lasts about 4 weeks and the hairs seem
to grow back less thick than before, if they grow back at all.
You can buy a little device on e-bay that looks like a little spring that you can use at home if you don't want to go to a salon. Its called epistick or ezetweeze or something like that.

My facial coverings are black and corse, could not be any worse really, I don't get any in the middle of my chin..yet..

piratecat · 20/10/2008 12:21

but what is the difference between pulling a hair out by threading and pulling one out by tweezers?

piratecat · 20/10/2008 12:23

i tried a hair remover once, and reacted badly, does veet mkae you sore/red?

pinkmagic1 · 20/10/2008 12:25

Its a lot quicker and seems to last a bit longer.

jumpingbeans · 20/10/2008 12:28

No, I use the one for sensitive skin, it is fine, and my skin is quite, I like to say delicate . when I pluck my eyebrows they swell up like I have been in a boxing ring

girlandboy · 20/10/2008 12:28

Looked at the veet website, but it only recommends the veet wax strips for facial hair removal. Other than that it's just the bleach!

ifeelugly · 20/10/2008 12:29

I veet my mustache

seems to work well

Right, I'm going to have a go with the veet. I use Jolen bleach on the upper lip, but only ever pluck my chin. Trouble is, I've been plucking for years and the skin is getting marked and a little bit lumpy. I'll give the veet a go and see what I think.

I hate seeing those little black dots appear.

ifeelugly · 20/10/2008 12:49

Yes sometimes I squeeze mine out

jumpingbeans · 20/10/2008 12:53

I did think of bleach, but that won't stop it growing, thinksing blonde zz topp is not a good look

wannaBe · 20/10/2008 12:57

I have this too. And for years I have plucked. And then I bought one of

these

And I love it. It's not painless (well you're pulling the hairs out by the roots so it's not going to be painless) but it's much quicker and more effective than plucking. plus the hairs don't have to be very long at all to pull them out.

UnfortunatelyMurderedMe · 20/10/2008 13:21

wanna be, ha ha, i can see my hair getting all tangled in the disks and having a pink gadget stuck to my chin ROFL DOes it really work?

hifi · 20/10/2008 13:26

how odd, mine grow either side of my chin aswell. cant wait for the middle bit and i will have a fully fledged beard.

do not under any circumstances use one of those sandpaper things. i have been a daily plucker for years and decided to use the sandpaper thingy whilst on holiday. they went for a day ot two then decended on me all at once. has taken me weeks to get back to normal.

would really love laser.

chunkychips · 20/10/2008 13:29

I have them too, just about four at the moment, two that appear on upper lip and two under chin. Easy to deal with at the moment, but as my nan has a full beard and moustache(!) I imagine I will be going the same way. Will definitely have laser treatment when the time comes.

ayeshav · 26/10/2008 15:58

laser laser laser. it's the best thing in the world. You have it done then only need a top up maybe once or twice a year for maintenance after the initial course. Quite expensive but well worth it-you can wave goodbye to creams, wax, razors.....
