Do you want to come and diagnose my problem?

My arm and hand keep going stiff (like a dead leg, when you have been leaning on it), it lasts for ages and it feels achy. I'm tired most of the time (I used to be avenanap ), I get pins and needles in my feet if I sit in one position for more than 10 mins (I never used to get this), my eyes also get very blurred. I have mood swings and can walk into things when I'm tired. My doctor say's it's post viral fatigue but I'm not sure it is. Any ideas? The hand and arm stiffness is driving me nuts! It's like my fingers are stuck together.

hi avenanap with the new chocolate name [win]

err, dunno. can you get to see another gp and have another opinion? or ask for a referral to a neurologist?
I get a crazy numbness and pins n needles in my R arm/hand, can't get it comfy in bed etc etc (wont bore you more) and it turns out to be carpal tunnel or the "other tunnel" at the elbow, trappping nerve and blood supply. nice or what.
That wouldn't tie up to explain with the rest of it tho. Really think you should find a way of getting to see another dr.

didn't mean [win], obv

meant to do

KatyMac · 10/10/2008 23:55

TBH

It sounds very post virally - I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which developed from post viral symptoms - how long has it been going on?

They are al symptoms I have had at one time or another

The pins & needles have driven me wild & the bruises from walking in to stuff

The dead arm I have had less often

PhantomOfTheChocolateCake · 10/10/2008 23:59

Thanks. It's the haloween name I think I know what it might be but I'm too chicken to go to the doctors and I'm hoping someone will say it's nothing to worry about. The achey stiffness comes and goes but is there for hours. It's been there since 7pm and is driving me nuts.

How are you?

I've had it for 2 years Katy. The pins and needles and numbness/achy has been a couple of months though. I had a slight positive blood test for Glandular Fever and have enlarged nodes in my neck but didn't have a sore throat/fever when I was ill, just back pain and tiredness. It's odd.

I had toncillitus the whole of my childhood
In my teenage years was continually tested fro Glandular fever, at 24 I was daignosed with CFS

I think you need to see an expert (ME or CFS)

Even if all he does is rule it out

I relate to those new symptoms too - when I get infections every lymph node in my body practically explodes

I get sweats and fever with no reasonable explaination & I nearly always have pain

PhantomOfTheChocolateCake · 11/10/2008 00:11

I had alot of tinsilitis too and had them taken out 6 years ago. I'm just sick of the arm death. It feels like I can't move my fingers because they are stuck together. It's annoying. I don't think an expert will say anything constructive. The symptoms sound like MS aswell so I don't really want to know IYSWIM.

It's easy to let your mind go on a riot, isnt it... I had thought the possibilities were MS, brain tumours, all sorts, and it's good old thingummy-tunnel.
If you want to get yourself a bit of peace, go and get a good ol' MOT. Tis the only way and you know it

KatyMac · 11/10/2008 00:14

Yep - but MS was the first thing they ruled out (along with brain cancer, leukaemia, bone cancer) still left are things like fibromyalgia, & some others I can't think of the name of because losing words is another of my problems (along with short term memory loss & lack of concentration)

KatyMac · 11/10/2008 00:15

But I have had my diagnosis for 16 yrs

I am loads better

Tho' I don't feel it tonite

PhantomOfTheChocolateCake · 11/10/2008 00:17

They did all the obvious tests (blood, endoscopy for the back pain ) and nothing showed up apart from the slight positive glandular fever (which I had no symptoms for). I need to go back really. I hate going to the doctors. No sweats or fevers though.

Maybe your body's telling you to take it easy. You have been really stressed lately Katy.

See someone

Imagination is dangerous

On Monday I was convinced I was in a relapse

My mum dragged me to see the GP & it turns out it is a chest infection - I am on enormous anti-biotics

So it wasn't worst case it was OK - panic over

PhantomOfTheChocolateCake · 11/10/2008 00:19

Thanks Giggle. Are you alright?

PhantomOfTheChocolateCake · 11/10/2008 00:21

Chest infections are nasty Katy. Take it easy and drink lots of hot chocolate.

You Get Sorted, please!
a dx you can deal with, over-active imagination is far far worse

KatyMac · 11/10/2008 00:24

I agree with her

PhantomOfTheChocolateCake · 11/10/2008 00:24

Yeah. I used to look after sick children. It does make you really paraniod. I'll go and harass the GP next week.
