Oh help, I am starting to panic the more I google.

For the past three or four months I have had the longest cycles, sometimes 43 days. I have always been a long cycle girl, usually 33-35 days, but this just seems ridiculous.

I decided to do the temp thing this month just to see when it was I was ovulating to see if I could explain this craziness. The thing is I am on day 23 and no sign of the egg.

I have had a bit of a stressful couple of weeks - was in hospital with suspect appendicitis - and I had a scan to rule it out and they saw follicles on ovaries so presuming this is something to do with ovulation.

I am 33, so seriously seriously hoping it is not something like premature menopause I would really like another dc in a year or two. (I have 2 already).

Googling is a terrible thing. Why did I start?

How are you temping? I say this because when I did it first time round for the first few months had no real pattern. I fell pg on month 3 of temping.
When I did temping for #2 I followed different instructions and took my temp when I woke from my block of sleep (of 4 hours or more) rather than at the same time every morning (and this is when I had woken and gone back to sleep again). So for #2 I took my temp at times like 4am when I first woke. Apparently it's coming out of a solid sleep that is important. I found that I had a very definate pattern and fell pg straight away!

Stop googling!!.

Irregular cycles are often caused by hormonal imbalances and thus can stop ovulation from happening. Temping is of no benefit whatsoever if the menstrual cycle is irregular.

If they saw multiple follicles on the ovaries you could have a condition called polycystic ovaries (did the sonographer comment on this?). PCO can cause irregular cycles but it is treatable. About 1 in 5 women have PCO.

What they can also do now is a blood test to see what your hormone levels are like. In this regard a day 3 test to measure LH and FSH levels can be done.

If the nature of your periods has changed and continues to do so you're better off seeing a gynae sooner rather than later (I note you would in the future like to conceive another child).

WITW I am temping first thing in the morning when I wake up usually the same time each day give or take half an hour.

Attila, they said sod all about pcos. They chatted to gynaecology on my behalf and they said it was normal. I always thought that PCO affected your chances getting pregnant and I had no problems conceiving either.

I'm glad you mentioned seeing a gynae as I have been wondering whether this would be the right person to see. I am really lucky I have private health insurance through dh work so will go and see gp asap to get a referral.

I have now stepped away from google!
