Question about period coming early.

Why?

Okay so that was a bit blunt. But I am generally very regular and I have started my period a full week early. We are ttc at the moment and I'm slightly worried this has some kind of implication....

I have been a lot teeny bit stressed but was only for a day or two and I suppose I haven't been eating well and I've lost a few kg over last week.

Could it just be a combination or these things? Or could it be something more sinister?

Obv you don't really know but has anyone else who has regular periods had a one-off out of character early period?

Are you sure it was a proper period?

slackrunner · 05/10/2008 19:46

Slur - I had the same thing this summer (we're also TTC). My periods are normally like clockwork, yet I had one arrive 8 days early. They're now back to a normal cycle. It did freak me out tbh, as I've always had a regular cycle.

I'll watch this post, hope someone has the answer.

S1ur · 05/10/2008 19:50

Well I don't know about proper, has just happened so obv the first thing I did was come on mn to post

Seems like it though, caught me by total surprise though, feels like I was only ovulating a few days ago!
Maybe I ovulated early? It could have been up to 10 days ago in which case that could bring a period forward maybe?

Slack - I am glad I am not a freak lone.

...Or it could have been implantation bleeding?

Hopeful for you. If it was a proper period I wouldn't worry too much.

S1ur · 05/10/2008 19:55

implantation bleeding?

Wots dat?
[ignorant]

Is that scary? It sounds scary.

And not was - is, as I say, I only ever leave mumsnet to go to the loo and lo and behold.... and I'm here again posting about my trip to the toilet.

Me too Slur. I felt as though I'd tempted fate as I saw an obs/gyn specialist earlier in the year (not to do with TTC), and said very confidently that my cycle was regular. And then this happens. Arrgghh

GordonTheGopher · 05/10/2008 20:57

It's when you're preggers and the egg implants into the lining of the womb - can happen between 5-12 days after ovulation.

S1ur · 05/10/2008 21:05

oooh oh right Gopher [exciting]

So not scary then, I might google that. It is different to a period how then? Don't answer if you're busy. I can google now I know it doesn't mean a mc or some horrible lurgy ending in oliitis or some such.

Thank you.

Gosh I am a bit taken aback at prospect of potentially being pg.

I think I am not. Because that is a much more reasonable thing to think and doesn't make me break out in a cold sweat.

I think it must be a freaky but normal period. But thank you for not saying it was something really scary and foreboding.

Fingers crossed for you - let me know!

Bodkin · 06/10/2008 13:57

My periods randomly went from 28 ish days to 21 days while I was TTC. I saw it as a bonus really, cos it meant less waiting around to find out if I was pg each cycle!

Implantation bleeding can be like the start of a period - with cramps and some dark red/brownish blood. it might last for 2-3 days and then tail off without the proper period ever materialising. I had it with both my PGs and both times had seriously thought, oh well, try again next month!

Good luck!
