Mirena Coil - Have read all the past threads, but they don't cover my question - can anyone help/advise?

I have a Mirena Coil and have had it for 18 months with no problems at all. Everything was text book.

I posted recently about this as for past 3 weeks have had a lot of symptoms that really look like signs of pregnancy.

Have done a pregnancy test - Negative.

(Have no idea when period due or what stage I am in cycle as Mirena stopped my periods over a year ago).

However, I still have all these symptoms. I feel silly going to doctor about this for some reason...

Could it just be a bug or something...or could it be the Mirena hormones causing my symptoms (randomly after 18 months of being fine?)

Does anyone have any experience of this?

mmmm I suppose the only answer is to do another pregnancy test in a couple of days time. Sorry not much help really. I did have a mirena in for a year and had no problems and no periods (which was fab). Never experienced what you are describing.

When I had my Mirena they were really reluctant to give it to me as they said it needs to stay in for 5 years and they wanted to know that, at my age (early 30's) I was really sure that I had 'finished' my family.

Yet, all the research I have done about the Mirena shows that many, (many!)people have them out way before the 5 years is up.

I'm wondering why?

Can the 'hormone' part of them start playing up or causing problems even if it's been perfect for a cerain amount of time?
