For the last week or so I have suffered from heartburn - mainly at night lying down.

I have never suffered indigestion before - not even when pg. So why now? Why so sudden?

Keep an eye on this. I started with indigestion and heartburn and it transpired that I had an infection called H pylori. If it persists go and see your GP and see if he will prescribe you omeprazole or a similar drug.In the meantime, give gaviscon a go.Only effective heartburn remedy that I have come across.Im now quite an expert on indigestion actually!! Im on the mend now but have suffered for months and months so do sympathise.

I've been suffering with heartburn alot recently since having a couple of gallstone attacks.

I am taking Gaviscon stuff...which is easing it greatly.

I was actually really worried to be suffering chest pain at 4am every morning. It came on so suddenly that I thought it couldn't possibly be heartburn. But as the gaviscon seems to be keeping it at bay I am a little relieved.

I had considered a stomach ulcer - especially as I have never suffered anything like it. I will keep an eye on it.

TY

the onset of indigestion when laying down is often a sign of candida overgrowth and low stomach acid. the candida love less acidic conditions and grow like mad, producing a secretion as the grow that suppresses acid production, making the whole thing worse. when the candida is numerous enough, they can hold open the one way valve at the base of the oesophogus into the stomach which allows the still slightly acidic stomach juices to leak back up the oesophogus causing heartburn. gaviscon gives instant relief by neutralising the acid but actually encourages the candida to grow more as it gives them an even less acidic environment. gaviscon is good for when you have ulcers but when no ulcers are present, gaviscon and other antacids are recognised as the most over and mis prescribed drugs in the world!!
