Particularly how to keep it dry when getting her washed, how to manage keeping it clean and dry at playgroup (if they'll have her?) and any general tips from you who've been there!!!
thanks!

I used one when I broke my ankle. It was great.

Good luck

it probaby won't be 6 weeks
when ds broke his arm we were told the cast would e on btw 4-6 weeks, it came off after 3 and a half weeks
kids are incredibly adaptable
we didn't bother with too much washing, just used wipes on his bum and face really (not the same one)

DS1 broke his elbow when he was 3. He only had his cast on for 3 weeks then was right as rain. We put a washing up glove on his hand then wrapped his arm up with cling film for bath time. He was back at preschool the following day (with Calpol) and it didn't stop him doing anything at all. He adapted ever so quickly to the cast and had discarded the sling within 24 hours.

The worst bit was when he had the cast off and his arm was all scaly and itchy. Just to warn you!

Dbrother broke or rather Dsister jumoed on his leg and snapped his growth plate in his leg when he was 9 months old. He was in a cast from armpit to ankle for 3 months. This along with other casts has taught me that plastic shopping bags work well to waterproof things. Sponge baths are fine. I know the nurses say not to put anything down the cast but a chopstick works well to scratch. No one was off school or playgroup but getting her to get her friends to write on it makes it all slightly easier to deal with from a little ones point of view.
